w3m saves as w3x

i can open a non-expantion file but when i try and save it it changes to an expantion. i hate it. :banghead: but hey expantion ony $28

Like I said, trying saving it and let it change to expansion...See if the window stays up or not...Maybe you can exploit the bug a little...

that was an edit so no and where is the map discription i go to it thru senario menu but it doesn say nething along those lines. and what is really wierd is i cant open them once they saved. wont even let me look for expantion files

It would make sense that you can't open a TFT map without TFT, but it IS odd that the Map Description isn't in Scenario...Maybe the editor is taking it out because you can no longer 'view' the map, as you do not have the TFT editor...In which case, get that $28!

On the bottom of the Description tab of Map Properties (the window that pops up) it should say:
Expansion Required: Yes
And a box under that with a reason or two.

Lol, this is interesting, it also tells you the version of map it is...My New Age of Warcraft has had 515 versions, apparently! Thought that was kinda funny...

my computer just doesnt like war 3 files
it wont even save it as a war 3 ile if i dont change a thing.
would that be a setting mybe a default?

maybe this should be in the faq....

if your map is saving as w3x and you haven't changed anything, then its because you are using the draenei demolisher model or icon in your map.

units\orc\catapult\catapult.mdx

or

ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNDemolisher.blp (or something like that)

the demolisher used to be the catapult which was a RoC unit. Then it got changed to the demolisher in TFT. Problem was that any RoC map that used the catapult automatically changed to use the new TFT unit. And thus if you tried to resave these maps they became w3x maps.

RoC mappers don't get that, that is a TFT only feature.

yep, that is how many times you have hit the save button on your map.

And yeah, I knew what it meant, I just thought it was funny that my map has had 515 versions when I only started it sometime in February, I think.

thnx for the help but it isnt the problem i went over every unit and change it if it was an orc catipult and it didnt work. w/e i have given up on this map.

its a massive bug with the world editor, somone has told me that in a patch blizzard accidently put a couple of things from tft in the roc editor, dont belive it myself.

i think someone should email blizzard about this as i used to have this problem before i got tft. as for your map the only solution i have ever found is to start again from scratch
