war 3 horrid lag

The game starts okay, but right after you see the guys you start with it lags a littlte, and then it just increases and stays there, getting to the point where not only do i have half the guys the computer does, by the time the screen switches to the battle my legends are dead so i cant cast spells, its such shit i havent even gotton an expansion base in one map yet
 
celeron 700mhz
64mb of ram (the problem)
ati rage 128 vr (another prob, cant find drivers for it, which is wierd)
anyone know if gateway will let me put more ram in?
 
general sdram 133 mhz can be added in the gateway simply buy it slamm it in .

drivers are at www.ati.com they are there
prolly called 128/expert/rage drivers
 
i allready looked at ati, i have 128 vr but al they have is 128 (didnt work) and a whole bunch of others that arent it
 
I am having the same problem as our friend here. I should note that the problem started after switching to Win2k. WinXP ran war3 fine, but since fresh win2k install I get choppy screens and lag (Note: single player only, I dont do Bnet). Specs, for the spec monkeys, are as follows: PIII 866, 512 ram, big hard drive, Win2k fresh install (i.e. no service packs), SBlive sound card (which War3 will not recognize, defaults to emulated) and a Geforce 2 Pro Vidcard with latest (29.42) drivers.

I guess my question is this... Are there any issues with Win2k? I have scoured the forums and cannot find a single Win2k issue section or really any OS related problems. I would hate to have to go back to XP because its networking is horribly slow, when it doesnt just freeze up my PC.

Any info is appreciated, even smart ass remarks.
 
Do all the Win2K updates and update ALL your device drivers especially sound and video. You have to have all the updates before you go on and even if you already had them and had to reinstall get them again as you will need them before we go any further troubleshooting this. Do the updates, try it out and post back the results.
 
Got SP2 isntalled and reinstalled the latest vid and sound drivers. Skipping still happens. I dropped res and details to bottom numbers and it still skipped. I am at a loss....

    this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.

    One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs

    Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.

    Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
