I have been getting a lot of black screens and freezes too when I
first got my copy of War3. What I noticed is that the CPU runs at
extremely high temperatures when I look at the motherboard
monitoring programs. All of my games usually runs around 50-55
celcius but when I play War3 it goes all the way up to ~70 celcius. I then decided to underclock my cpu for the time being until Blizzard figures out some sort of solution, and now everything runs fine. I haven't experienced any freezes / blackscreens for the last two nights.
This isn't good long term solution but it has to do in order to
play War3. I had to go from a 1.53 Ghz to a 1.1 Ghz just to play
War3. I also have adequate cooling in my computer and on the cpu.
specs:
XP 1800+ with Silverado fan
asus7v333 motherboard
256 ddr 2100
ATI Radeon 8500 LE
