warcraft 2 not working on windows xp

hey people.
i have warcraft 2 bne and a dsl modem on a network. my new dell computer (i highly reccomend them) has windows xp and my old one has windows 98. on the new one, i cant join or have other people join any games. the blizzard guy told me it was because of my netorks settings or something. i tried 'opening the ports' with the windows xp firewall thing......didnt make a difference. when i tried the game on the old computer with win98, it works fine, every single time. both computers are on the same netork....so im thinking maybe the network isnt the problem. can anyone help me? thank you

Visit the windows update site and download all the latest fixes for Windows XP.

Start, Control Panel, Network Connections. Right-Click on your internet connection. Go under the advanced tab. Disable the firewall. Reconnect.

As Swilo said, visit the Windows Update Site and make sure you download the compatibility update.

thanks for the help, but im not in a firewall and windows updates automatically on windows xp.....thanks anyway

Are you sure ? Windows XP has a built-in firewall. Make sure it is disabled.

Are you using any internet connection sharing software ? How is your network set up ?

uh it might be my network after all
firewall is disabled
i have 3 computers connected to a dsl connection
i use a netgear hub (not router) to share internet conncection
each computer can be on the internet at the same time

War ii Network problem

Hi, i dont understand why, when i play on multiplayer mode, I can`t play with more than 2 persons. I only can do 1v1 games, i cant play full game. This is the only game i cant play 4v4, with others games i can play 16 vs 16 without any problem.
Why when i play 4v4 in multiplayer mode, it lags as fuck and is`t impossible to play. I want to play that old game again, if u can help me, it would be really nice

    I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
