Warcraft III TFT replays

I was curious if there is a way to watch old replays on a newer version of WCIII TFT? Or is it as I fear and you can only watch replays on whatever version you currently have installed? I keep a couple of installs so that I can watch old replays, but I wanted to post some here, as I saw others doing the same. Also is there a way to dl older patches? And if none of that is possible is there free or relatively cheap software that could video capture/record what is on my screen, as a cheap last resort? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm confused as to what you're requesting in the first part of your post. However, as for video capture I believe there's a program called FRAPS. I've never used it as I have little need for recording what I do on the computer, although I've heard it suffices.

When you watch a replay that is from a previous version of warcraft, say 1.18, then the updated version won't let you watch the replay.

As far as I know, there is no way.

You can get a free version of Fraps, which I've used, but it only records 30 secs at a time. You can, however, record as many as you want, so if you're willing to patch them together in Windows Movie Maker, then use it, else pay a small price for the full version. Unlimited recording :)

I think I got the first part of my question answered, thanks guys. What I am refereeing to here is that when you play battle.net online it automatically upgrades you with the latest patch, thus making old replays recorded prior to the patch incompatible with the new upgrade. They cannot be viewed. I am praying that there is a way around this, however, with what I know so far this is pretty much wishful thinking. 5x + Rep if anyone can genuinely help me get around this. I have some killer replays, but seems odd to circulate them; no one would want to revert to older version just to watch.

>Ninja_sheep, thanks man. If those work that might get me one step closer, and it is the closest thing I've seen so far in making it easy to switch back without having to reinstall. Unfortunately it's still a 50 megabit file and that is a lot to ask someone to download. If I can get that to work for me, I will totally plus rep you. I don't know if it works yet, or if others would be willing to try it. I'll post back later.

watch old replays,how to switch by hand,patches,downloads,versions,ROC,TFT

I was asked several times, how to watch old replays. So I spend some time to prepare this:

how I do it:

later version:
- download the patch you want to use
- use the patch

earlier version:
- copy a war3.exe, which is older than the patch you want to use, and paste (overwrite!) it into your Warcraft III folder
- download the patch you want to use
- use the patch

1.10 special:
- copy all 1.07 files and paste (overwrite!) them into your Warcraft III folder
- copy all 1.10 files and paste (overwrite!) them into your Warcraft III folder

1.11 special:
- copy all 1.07 files and paste (overwrite!) them into your Warcraft III folder
- copy all 1.10 files apart of war3.exe and paste (overwrite!) them into your Warcraft III folder
- use patch 1.11

1.12 special:
- copy all 1.07 files and paste (overwrite!) them into your Warcraft III folder
- copy all 1.10 files apart of war3.exe and paste (overwrite!) them into your Warcraft III folder
- use patch 1.11
- use patch 1.12

All these files are for WarCraft III - The Frozen Throne - English and come from different sources (Blizzard, GameFront, GamersHell, ingame and from users). I renamed them all to make it as consistent and obvious as possible:

- Blizzard never released a stand-alone 1.10 patch
- ROC1.10 won't work, TFT1.10 shows up instead of ROC1.10 after starting Warcraft_III.exe
- all downloaded 1.13b patches don't work for me
- there is a difference between (some?) replays of patch 1.14 and 1.14b
- there is a difference between (some?) replays of patch 1.20 before and after d
- there is a difference between (some?) replays of patch 1.24 before and after c
- patches fail when there is a comma in the path

    The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats

    Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
