You are ultimately right on who it is, but wrong on the clues

Actually Deathwing tricked Neckros into bringing Alexstraza into the open, basically tricking him to move her to a new location, so as he could steal some of her eggs. However while she was being relocated, Alexstraza was released and destroyed Nekros (by lets say char-broiling him) and destroyed the Demon Soul.
