(another idea-dump, for now)

This would work simlar to the total war series, where you have a large map with azeroth and kalimdor divided up into many regions, and each has a city that you can build upgrades for, and gives you money and trains troops. the units would move in groups (still need a system for this) and then, in battle, each group of soldiers (20-40 units per group, depending on lag this may change) would have a commander, and whenever that commander was given a command to go somewhere, all of his units would do that same command to that place too. The main portion of the map would be a world-view of the warcraft world, with all the teritories, with all the units and cities on it. in another portion would be all the battle areas, which would include all-water areas (there will be ship fighting, unlike normal total war) and water-land ones, which would allow for beach attacks.

I need a good map of the WoW world, with all the zones and major cities and names of the cities an zones. a good approximation of who owns which areas and the size of the cities would help too, along with any back story of warcraft races/religion as well. (I want to make this "historically accurate" like the Total War series)

I would recommend looking up information on the World of Warcraft website for maps and the such, they have some decent ones.

This is actually a pretty good idea if it wasn't made too complicated that is - and could support a lot of players (8 minimum I'd say, maybe on teams)... it could be fun.

Don't get too into it though this would be a massive project and I would recommend finding people to help before you jump into something like this.

I'm going to do it step by step, and if anyone could help, I could use help getting info for now. and here's a step-by-step of how I plan to do stuff-

Alpha: Localized testing, basic game engine creation.
-basic battle system, movement by commanders -(done)
-global battle engagement system -(here now)
-turn system
-territory capture system
-cities - unit production
-basic city government - taxes
-basic city buildings - barracks
-unit type creation
-world map terraining
Beta: Widespread protected testing, balancing, advanced concept creation.
-advanced city government - order, growth.
-advanced city buildings - city upgrades, defences.
-balancing and refinement - units & buildings
First Release

Races-
Loderan Humans
Stormwind Humans
Orcs
Undead
Nightelves
Tauren
Ogres
Dwarves
Gnomes (if I can find models)
Trolls
Blood elves (or high elves)
Creeps - (uncontrolled)

Gold and wood would be obtained through mines and lumber mills in cities. Gold is used for buying troops, lumber is used to construct buildings. later on you can trade gold for wood (better markets reduce gold/lumber lost in transaction). food shows regions you control/total regions.

I don't know what era I'm going to be staging this in, or if it will start around the beginning of WC3: RoC and going on past to where WoW is taking place now. If so, then there will be a few special events, such as the invasion of the burning legion, which will probably be armies that appear and attack random cities, until you kill archimonde, the leader, who appears after a certain amount of time.

that sucks i bet they are expensive
  • Varine Varine:
    Not really
  • Varine Varine:
The entire hot end is like 20 dollars, I just can't get anymore until next week
  • Varine Varine:
I ordered like five blocks for 15 dollars. They're just little aluminum blocks with holes drilled into them
  • Varine Varine:
They are pretty much disposable. I have shitty nozzles though, and I don't think these were designed for how hot I've run them
  • Varine Varine:
I tried to extract it but the thing is pretty stuck. Idk what else I can use this for
  • Varine Varine:
I'll throw it into my scrap stuff box, I'm sure can be used for something
  • Varine Varine:
I have spare parts for like, everything BUT that block lol. Oh well, I'll print this shit next week I guess. Hopefully it fits
  • Varine Varine:
I see that, despite your insistence to the contrary, we are becoming a recipe website
  • Varine Varine:
    Which is unique I guess.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
