I'm not really new to map making with WC3 but i never got how to link waygates so you can use them. I'm in real need of this info. So if someone can get back to me on it A.S.A.P.

Thanks.

You could go to the waygate's preferences, and change the "Waygate enabled" and "Waygate destination" fields (under the unit itself, when placed on the map).

Or you could (i prefer this one) use some triggers:

E: Time elapsed is 0.01 seconds
C: -
A:
Set (Your Waygate) destination to (Location)
Enable (Your Waygate)

EDIT: The good thing with the triggers is that you can have 2 waygates pointed at eachother.

Yes, the first one that you posted doen't work for some reason. I'll have to work with the tirggers to get that. Thanks Persen. Ooo one more thing. I want to keep my map privet so people the DL it off battle.net can't mess with it. I have seen this in maps i have DL that you can't opne them in editor because triggeres are missing. Can anyone tell me how you do that?

Yes, i know there are not any "Map Protectors". But there is a way were you can do something with the triggers so people can't open them up in editor. I have tried many of ways to use the first way to link the waygates. Didn't work. If you have any idea on how to get it to work. Please tell me. Thanks!

there IS map protectors.. when ppl will try to open it they will see "trigger data missing /path/path/path"

Waygate solution

Well i used waygates in some of my early maps and what i did was have 2 waygates on the map (put where you want them) then you put a region under each one. Then you need this trigger for going to a place:

Forward Waygate
Events
Unit - A unit enters Region 000 <gen>
Conditions
Actions
Unit - Move (Triggering unit) instantly to (Center of Region 001 <gen>)

If you want units to come back to the previous area you need 2 more waygates, 2 more regions, and this trigger:

Reverse Waygate
Events
Unit - A unit enters Region 002 <gen>
Conditions
Actions
Unit - Move (Triggering unit) instantly to (Center of Region 003 <gen>)

This set-up takes a bit longer to make and uses a little more space but it is good. Also so your units get sucked into the region faster you should enlarge it to the size of the Waygate's base(bottom).

Hope this helps.

Actually, you just need one region per waygate. Just make it where you want the gate to go. Then double-click the waygate, check the "waygate is active" box, and select the region you want from the drop-down menu. No triggers needed.

Aye.

Aye, Sargon thats the fast way to do it as i said mine is slower and space taking but it adds to the look of the map.

I don't see how it would make it look better in any way.

The only problem with Sargon's method is that you need regions, which triggers don't need (there is a "position of unit" function)

> The only problem with Sargon's method is that you need regions

One, per waygate. That's it already.
No need for triggers.
No need to take extra care so units don't get caught in an endless teleport loop.

That's not what I would call a "problem"...

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
