Wc3 Bnet Unable to host (Homeportal 1000HG)

I have searched numerous forums, and I have found nary a tutorial to enable hosting Warcraft III games with the 2Wire Homeportal 1000HG, on Battle.net.

In case it is of any relevance, my OS is Windows XP. My ISP is SBC. I use the AVG Free Edition firewall, in addition to 2Wire's firewall. I enabled Port 6112 through Port 6112. There is no option to enable Warcraft III, though there are options for other games.

I have checked PortForward.com, but the Homeportal 1000HG was unlisted.

Specifically written for BNET - covers XP SP1 and SP2.

Yes, I looked at that, though it covers Linksys specifically.
I had already looked at my Windows Firewall, and Warcraft III: RoC and TFT were already in there.

is responding slowly. It is the page where I can access 2Wire's settings. It normally loads much faster.

First I'll say, you dont need all those firewalls.

All firewalls do is block incomming ports.

A router does that by nature.

Routers by nature block all incomming port addresses. The newer routers come with options to forward incomming ports.

Blocked ports are blocked ports. Don't need 2-3 walls at all.

Personally, I'd turn of the others. And just use 2WIRES (thats the router, right?)

Yes the tutorial uses linksys for the demo, but every newer router is configurable in the same way.

Okay.
Start -> Run -> CMD
Run -> IPCONFIG
Theres your local IP.
Theres your local IP.
Go to router set up.
This is the setup screen you want.

If your router does not have the BOTH option, you will need to key in one for TCP, and one for UDP.

So for application name, enter anything you want. Say, 'Blizzard1'.

Set up for TCP. Give it your IP, and the 6112 port.

Now create ANOTHER profile.

Say, 'Blizzard2'

Set up for UDP. Give it your IP, and the 6112 port.

If you want to keep Windows Firewall, just make sure WC3 and TFT are on the exceptions list.

Go to warcraft.
Click options
Click game options
Enter that port (6112)

Should work fine.

Do I enter my IP into the "Map to Host Port", or do I leave it blank?

Protocol timeout? I don't think people want to wait 86400 seconds before it says, "The game could not be found"...

Leave protocol timout blank (default). It doesn't work the way you said.

Put your warcraft port in 'Map to Host'. Thats the 'map' to you - the 6112.

Either disable the other firewalls, or configure them the same way, like this. you dont really need em. You have a router.

Think of a router as its own computer - that handles your incomming calls.

When people attack ports, their attacking the router instead.

But router doesn't care - because router doesn't listen ANYWAY.

Until you forward those calls to your machine.

When I log on to comcast, it SEES my router as another computer.

I have 3. Comcast reports 4 - one more for the router.

Your protected behind it.

When you get it working.... please take a clear screenshot of your port/router set up? I could use another example for the tutorial

Didn't work.

I opened 6112 through 6112 on TCP, mapping to host port 6112 and leaving the timeout blank, and named it Blizzard1. I opened 6112 through 6112 on UDP, mapping to host port 6112 and leaving the timeout blank, and named it Blizzard2. I then enabled them on the firewall settings.

Nothing.

Thanks for helping me. Anything else I haven't tried?

i have this same problem with warcraft 3 ok i have a 2wire 2700hg-b through sbc with built in homeportal i too work for a cable company and know how to set up and confiqure stuff like this. I went through every set up i could. I know it isnt a problem with my pc operating system or windows firewall. I took it to my friends house down the street hooked it up to his router boom we could play when his router is added than we cant connect. so i went in to the 2 wire router and tried dmz mode which is as close to off as the fire wall gets says it allows alll traffic in our out will still watching for attacks. this didnt work re set the pc and router just in cse again no luck changed to allow single application mode add ports 6112 tdp mode which was located on the blizzard site. no luck added ports 6112-6119. tried again no luck the game reports port 6112 is not open. the router and firewall are simple it simply doesnt allow you too open ports 6112-6119 or blocks the packets for some reason sbc customer support of course has no clue any help is great but again i know it is anything with my pc its the router or a problem with sbc since again it works with no modification just by being bypassed

Try this

Then, try setting the Speed and Duplex and disable the Checksum Offloading (or Hardware Checksumming) of the network card:


Click on Start.

Click on Control Panel.

Double click on the System icon (in Windows XP, you may need to click Switch to Classic View on the left hand side of the screen).

Select the Hardware tab.

Click on Device Manager.

Expand the section labeled Network Adapters.

Right click on your network card and select Properties.

Click on the Advanced Tab

Click on Speed and Duplex (or Media Type or Connection Type)

Change the value to 10 or 100 Mbps Full Duplex

Click on Checksum Offloading (or Hardware Checksumming).

Change the value on the right to Disable.

Click OK.

First of all, if you work for a cable company/have a job, I would assume you know how to type correctly. So please do.

Second, what you need to do is called port forwarding. You first need to set up a static IP and then you can configure your router for it.
