wc3 model converters

Does anyone know of any model converters that work?

I have tried things like war 3 viewer and WinMPQ, but i can't find a decent program that works.

I am looking for anything that can convert mdl->mdx and vice versa.

(I got milkshape 3D for my modeling now all i need is a program that will give me models to edit!) :banghead:

If anyone knows where i can get one plz tell me.

Look on wc3sear.ch

I use Wc3 File Converter, which will take mdls (made in gmax via DeX script and copied and pasted into a notepad and saved with .mdl extension) and save them as working mdxs. It will also take mdxs and make them mdls. And, last of all, it can take blps and convert them into tgas and bmps, but I haven't tried those options--Wc3 Image Extractor works fine with that.

There is some kind of problem... I've opened it up but the treeview is empty, i have chosen war3x.mpq. Is this the reight thing to do or should i do something else?

@sqarge: i tried that befroe. It said it was empty (yes i did extract it)

@lordloki: thanks, thanks to everyone that helped.

Basically i was looking for a tool that extracted models. I also wanted it to work .

I am using my mac as i am replying to ths thread so i cant download just yet, but i shall tommorow when i switch to my xp.

PS: Does the war3file converter actually contain war3 models that you can extract?

No, what you want to do is this
Use the Model Viewer to find your Model,
Use WinMPQ to extract your Model
Use the File Converter to change it from MDX to MDL and MDL to MDX
There is not a program that does all 3.

hehe. Yeah i know it can't be that simple; thing is, like i said before, WinMPQ appears empty after i extract (ill keep trying until it works!)

Model Viewer: have never heard of it before, will use google to find it (or maybe wc3sear.ch or wc3campaigns.)

War3File Converter: Mysteriously already on my XP... strange.

I will let you know if i get all three working or i find a different (if anyone can prove that gmax/3dsmax is better than milkshape, please let me know.)

In WinMPQ, when you open.. browse to your C:/programfiles/warcraft III folder

and open war3.mpq

like the pic below

Once you do, you should see a list like the 2nd pic.

Okay but i must first solve the first problem of getting WinMPQ to open up properly, then i shall do that, thanks anyway.
