is that site down or somethin? i was looking through icons and all of sudden it just froze up and now when i try to go back i get "The page cannot be displayed"
The site suffers from bandwidth issues. It really can't handle the load it's placed under. So you'll get all kinds of weirdness from it. Par for the course.
I think part of the issue is their site design. They typically have around 80 people logged into the site at any given time, and when they're searching for stuff like models they typically put the view on "all" which causes EVERY image in the database to load. It's probably a load on the SQL server or whatever is running their database app.
yea it finally started working again, but man... that site is so slow i cant stand it. i wish there was another site that had all those icons. and i dont think it's too much pressure on the sql because even when you have all icons it only shows you a limited number of icons at a time you have to go to different pages and stuff. i think who ever made it is just a noob and rushed through it just to get it done instead of making it the right way. what they should do is just allow people to upload icons/maps/spells/skins/models/etc... whenever they want but dont actually show it on the site untill.. whenever, like once or twice a week (or once a day during slow times) update the database and do a quick sort on everything and then when people search do a binary search instead, that would make things a lot faster.
edit: nevermind i guess that wouldnt work. the only way that would work is if people typed in the beginning of the icon, if therse an icon called BTNSpell_Holy_Protectionofstatima and someone couldnt rmember the full name and just typed protectionofstamina then a binary search wouldnt work
You can set it to display ALL icons in the database on a single page. Most people who don't want to put up with the lag of the site on a page to page basis do that, but it probably further lags the site.
I have two salmon, Sockeye and Atlantic. Atlantic is used for the kids salmon and the salmon and beet salad, and can also be added onto any dish or just as a side. Atlantic salmon will almost exclusively ever be FARMED, as it is endangered in the wild, and we ALWAYS cut them to 4 ounces.
SOCKEYE salmon, very different and this IS wild caught. We have an ENTREE version, and an add on version. The entree is 7 ounces, the add on is 4. Why? Because that is how someone that wasn't me set up the computer.
So, taking into consideration that what I typed out up there is kind of some fucking nonsense that under normal circumstances no one really needs to fucking be able to explain in any rational way
Let alone trying to figure it out from a wildly stressed out me that is also on a phone call trying to get something to show up from Seattle tomorrow while trying to explain this salmon situation, that also is barely solved in maybe a few hours and and but I am bulking it with a few steelhead filets I have and that is a WHOLE fucking different thing to the 19 year old server that got put on day shift C crew that doesn't know who I am.
All in all though I think this summer is going really well. Some complicated things, but at the end of the day it isn't THAT big of a deal. Not all of our servers have quite realized they are technically sales
Like yeah it is a substitute, but FOMO. Chef isn't getting this again this year, he has to figure it out, so it's slightly off on the menu, but that is more or less the LOWEST quality and price. Right now, steelhead is a real stealhear, right?
Maybe the bartender. Idk, it's one of my favorite things to hear them go from calm to customer service voice. They will translate it to like "The chef is trying to change that a bit right now so he does have a Alaskan river steelhead. Yeah like the one you might fish probably!" And then the girls can bat their eyes and do pretty girl server shit
