What theme would you like to a hero?

I've been having some block with some of the hero themes, and if you have any ideas, share them. I'm not talking about types like mage, caster, melee, etc, but more of a theme to them. For example, the Pirate from Tides of Blood uses the Admiral Proudmoore model, that sorta thing. So, isntead of having just thrown in abilities, each hero has it's own type of theme. Just having a samurai or general is rather boring. So, for example, if you have a hero who's model looks desert-ish, you'd base his abilities around desert themed things. So, any ideas?

I'll give an example.

I've got a hero, who's basically Rokhan from the campaigns, but like any other troll who lives in a hut, he's obviously gotta be a troll hopped up on drugs. He's got Candy Man (Drug dealer), Teh Peace Pipe, Teh Hammered Troll, and Voodoo Doll.

How about a hero combo or two that is all the more deadly when paired?

Marmak Hitman (Blood Mage)

His abilities only damage women unless said otherwise. Don't ask :P

Muscular Bod -- Small percent chance a unit falls for Marmak, contracting a few second stun. Even smaller percent chance that a unit (this one male) grows afraid of Marmak, attacking slightly slower and with less damage, but with increased armor.

Fascinating Smile -- Marmak smiles with such melancholy that the unit backs away in fright (the opposite of taunt).

Flash of Knife -- Blink behind target and jam a small knife into her back doing medium damage.

Pistol and Cane -- This attack is random. Half of the time Marmak feels like taking things calmly and binds the unit with thorns that do no damage but last a pretty long while, then he shoots her with his little pistol doing basic damage after the thorns sink back down into the ground. The other half of the time, Marmak dashes forward and empties a full clip of his pistol before punching his cane into the ground in an impale one-target (with no stun).

The Perfect Strike -- Only activates when Syara is nearby as an ally. Syara performs Fatal Kiss and quickly after Marmak performs Pistol and Cane with the later movement, the full clip and impale, only the pistol does more damage than usual.

Syara Hitwoman (I'm serious :o She should have the demoness or whatever model. I forgot what it is, but it's that lady with the bizarre voice and the hook claw things)

For one thing, it'd be cool if you could trigger her abilities to only apply to men :D

Beauty -- Renamed Evasion. Chance of unit missing Syara and a smaller chance of the unit falling for Syara and contracting a few second stun.

Flirt -- Syara flirts with the target, lowering his attack and defense by a small amount for a short amount of time.

Mysterious Appearance -- Windwalk with the extra damage and such. Except, if the Hitwoman is attacked before being revealed otherwise (with a gem of true seeing or something of the sort), she will turn ethereal for a few seconds.

Fatal Kiss -- Moves in close to kiss the unit while secretly drawing a dagger. As she kisses the unit, she swiftly pushes the dagger into his back and blinks away. Target takes heavy damage.

Dance -- Only activates when Marmak is nearby as an ally. Syara rapidly dances turning all of the nearby male enemies giddy to the point where they just stand there. Syara blinks out of the way as Marmak smashes his cane into the ground creating a gigantic impale area attack, launching many units into the air for mediocre damage.

-----------------------------

Mzara'zha Demon Champion (Eredar model...red or purple, doesn't matter)

Touch of Corruption -- Deals light damage to a target unit with a small percent chance that it converts into neutral hostile and attacks everyone in the vicinity.

Tongue of Lies -- Mzara opens his mouth and Fibs buzz out and attack nearby enemies combusting their mana. Like the Surround Bug spell (forgot its name) on the Nerubian Warlord Hero (also forgot its name...I'm forgetting things quite quickly now and that's a bad thing :D).

Summoned Being -- Mzara is a summoned being, so his Hp and Mana slowly leave him as he fights. However, by leveling up this ability, his Hp and Mana decrease at a slower rate.

Heavy Demi -- Mzara calls upon the power of gravity to squish his foes down. Temporarily scales them down and slowly deals damage over time even after they scale back up. After they scale back up, the damage dealt to them over time increases a little bit and their armor is reduced a bit. The armor reduction and the constant damage wear out at the same time.

High Spirits -- Only activated if Pikara is nearby and an ally of Mzara. Mzara generates a mysteriously positive yet negative force in an aura, slightly lowering the armor of opponents while slightly increasing the attack speed of allies.

Pikara Evil Pet Bunny (Bunny model, of course)

Consume -- Same old eat the corpse to restore health.

Freak Attack -- (In honor of Alien Hominid, I've named it this :)) Pet Bunny jumps on the enemy and furiously bites at its head, slowly doing damage over time. If the bited one is a hero, he gains the ability to shake off the bunny, which prematurely ends the freak attack if successful (there's a percent chance the bunny is thrown off).

Unreal Speed -- Improves Pikara's movement speed (believe it or not, it should be that this is helpful. Pikara has relatively low hp and armor, but with rapid attack speed and mediocre damage, so he should be pulled out of combat as quickly as he entered).

Fury of Demon Bunny -- Pikara grows VERY big. Consume and Unreal Speed are rendered useless while Freak Attack is suddenly changed to target buildings, where the bunny rapidly munches on it for some nice siege damage.

The Pet -- Only activated if Mzara is nearby and an ally of Pikara. Pikara acts more pet like, attacking with faster attack speed and slightly increased damage. But when Mzara runs away without Pikara or is reduced to 1/5th his max hp, Pikara suddenly attacks slowly and with pathetic damage, totally losing his courage. His movement speed increases slightly, as he is eager to protect his dying master or follow him.

Maybe you could have a hero from a sea - based area. For instance, Lady Vashj. You could give her whirpool (spin units around a central point; central point could be a modification of tornado), tidal wave (giant wave that stuns damages and knocks back units), something smells fishy (you figure it out :P), and her ultimate, revenge of the waves ( giant portal that summons sea monsters, tons of waves based off of stampede, whatever :D) . Hope you appreciate my suggestion ;) .

Very good ideas. I especially like the sea based hero. I changed up your abilities a little Shadowy Fear.

Whirlpool - It'd be a spell you target on a certain point, which damages and slows anything inside of it.

Tidal Wave - Instead, have it turn the screen blue and any units that are on the screen must get out before they "drown".

Ultimate - Revenge of the Tides - WOuld open up a portal, which until it's destroyed would spawn a few naga every so seconds.

Good ideas guys! I'll definately be using them. (Might not be in this upcoming version, unless I have enought ime, of course)

Thanks, glad to know i'll be making a difference :D And im also a tester even better I can be the first to see how my ideas with your modifications would work :D:D This keeps getting better and better :)

I added Mzara the Demon Champion and his evil demon bunny Pikara :D:D:D

I just thought of a great idea conan (if you havent alrady thought of it)! :D I call it 'counter spells'. You said that you had hero abilities that would activiate or be more effective with heros with matching . . . themes? Personalities? Anyway, you should have the opposite of that too; like if Lady Vashj and Unquenchable the Fire Lord were on opposing teams, and they were both fighting in the same area, you could give each of them a 'counter spell' that would work only against that particular hero. So lady vashj would suddenly get ' fierce rain' which would damage the firelord and drain his mana or whatever, and Unquenchable would get 'Evaporation' which would heavily damage all of lady vashjs summoned units and interrupt her spells, etc. Hope you like this one too ;) :D

Great idea Shadowy Fear, but I've already implemented something similar to that. Heroes have certain spells that work better on certain units and heroes. For example, Beryl Callow's Moxie Shatter works better on unarmored units rather than things like skeletons and heavily armored units.

Oh ok lol thats sounds good too :) Your the mapmaker after all :P And with that copyright, i doubt anyone will challenge you :D Btw when will the testing begin? Im DYING for the chance to try your map out

Soon enough, soon enough.

Also, like I said before, I'm not going to copyright this after all. Since it's to much work, and also because Blizzard has the right to retract any project or resource, so it's kinda pointless.

Added your hero, Shadowy Fear. Azuka Myrimidon, the Naga King. Has Whirlpool as descriebed, Terror of the Tides which summons a Liquid Elemental (nothing special, but it's fun to use those abilities), Tidal Fury which increase Azuka's life regeneration and adds a movement speed bonus. (Mainly a filler ability unitl I come up with something different) Also has Revenge of the Naga which summons a portal which every few second summons 2 Naga Royal Guards (alot weaker) until the portal's destroyed. Leveling it decreases time in between spawns and the strength of the portal.

This hero will go great with the new Sunken Ruins layout I'm working on, thanks Shadowy Fear!

I also added the Pirate from Tides of Blood, it's my little "Thank you" to Tides of Blood. The Pirate has always been my favorite Tides of Blood hero, and no AoS would be fit without him. :) (Alot of my inspiration has come from the greatest AOS created, Tides of Blood, and there alot of similarities between the two (didn't go overboard with it;)))

Tides of Blood lacked balance. Ah well, at least they thought out their heroes unlike DotA. I did enjoy playing the Blood Mage and his blood tidal waves he could unleash.

Have you played the recent versions? MUCH better balance than the early N's or even before the N series. They had the Final N release just a few days ago, and they're adding a wicked new item + hero system in the beginning O versions. The balance is MUCH better now, and alot of the heroes might do good in 1v1 games, but with tons of people, every hero is about the same.

Thanks for using my hero idea :) I agree with you tob was the best or at least most thought - out AoS ever. The balance wasn't THAT bad, even in the early versions; the only exception was the super cheesing all powerful sashi; and the solar disciple or whatever as well was pretty bad, but thats more hero choice than bad balance i guess. :D And glad to know youll be using the pirate he was also pretty cool. (i never figured out how they got him to jump . . . :P )

Eh, I haven't played battle.net in a few months or so. All idiots there :P

But that is good news. I hated their abomination (I think they had one) and their warden-based hero (I think they had this one too). But, I might be currently thinking about another AoS. Either way, pretty much all of the commonly hosted AoSs are low on balance. I like your idea conan. According to your screenshot, Sol'Ta has relatively low HP for his seemingly cheap abilities (stop time and attack and the like). If you go with that, it's always nice to have a hero strategy of the person who exits as soon as he enters, but not without leaving an inferno in his wake.

You mean the Jolly ROger Hoist? THat was pretty easy. Set a timer when you cast the ability, switch out the caster with a reasonable look alike, then move his movement speed up, and then move him to the target, then back down again.

The hard one was getting his Spirit of the Adrian to look right, since it needs to be destroyed whenever it hits debris, trees, or enemy units. Also, getting it to summon and move correctly was a little difficult.

I changed his balancing a bit, since I don't have the same balance system as Tides of Blood. Jolly Roger Hoist does a little less damage at highest level, crabs are summoned differently, and Spirit of the Adrian has the same damage through all three levels, but mana and cooldown are reduced.

Ok that sounds pretty good. Although I absolutely HATED that unbalanced monstrosity Jimmy *shudders*. His ultimate was like devour hero; in some earlier versions it took forever for them to die too -_-. The warden was really a nuisance, except to sashi, to whom she was a juggernaut of destruction although i suppose that helped balance out sashi and prvent his cheesing raids of dome (another thing, only two lanes had expansions at all :( the others didnt have anything only towers and that gold vault -_-)

I kept getting owned by Jimmy as my Blood Mage. And when I ran away (which happened a lot) all of a sudden comes up the crappy warden of unspeakable annoyance who pwns my butt to the grave...and this happens at least ten-twenty times before I either give up (we're losing and not going to win at any rate) or we're owned.

hmmm, heres an idea i had for an AOS hero. He is based off sleep and illusion abilities. You'll notice that every single move he has helps him stay alive, hes one tough one to kill.

Dream Master (Dormius)
Model: Kel Thuzad (necromancer)
Attack Range: 675

Rest- yes just like the move from pokemon, Dormius sleeps for 10 seconds, regaining hp each second. It should be a good amount of hp, because you're immobile for 10 seconds and it can be interrupted.

Drowsy- this ability has 2 different effects depending on what the enemy is doing. If the enemy is moving when it hits, they will get a purge (slow) effect. If they are standing still, they will sleep. If they get purged, but stop moving, they will fall asleep. Obviously each one has its pros and cons, so you have to know when to use the move.

Dreamscape- Dormius makes himself ethereal, gaining move speed. This move is a lot like windwalk, good for escaping, and extra speed. Of course not as good as for ambushes, but you can go by those pesky true sighted towers. The speed increase should be greater than WW, and if possible to trigger, he should be able to walk through trees.

Ultimate- Dreamtide - Sends a single hero back to their main base/fountain. I've been wanting to see this move for a long time. It works on allies or enemies, and yourself. With this, you can save an ally or yourself, banish an enemy, or just be plain annoying. The cooldown should be long, but getting shorter with each level.

Dormius is a strong support hero, but he won't be doing much hero killing.

Maybe that's just becuase you suck. :P

Nah, it's easily avoidable. Grab a Blink Dagger, and AS SOON as you see that Devour animation, blink away. He'll try to Devour you, but Cooldown and mana cost kick in and he has to wait longer to use. Jimmy is a pain, but easily grabbable if you wait for jimmy's health to get about halfway down and then POW! The Golden Path his butt into the ground.

@Marksman: Good ideas! I've been needing abilities for a hero of mine (Lord Deimos) who's abilities are based around hellish things. I might redo those abilities to fit him, changing some details. For the Sleep, I already have an ability liked that called "The Emerald Dream" for Mal'furion, which is based off Cannabalize without having to target a corpse, no Cannabalize animation, and a Sleep effect above his head.

    LOL! A tweak job!

this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.

I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere

    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
