Why do I lag in Battlenet?

Can anyone tell me why I can only play games 1v1 in StarCraft with good speed? I have a cable modem. Everytime I get into a game with more than 2 players the game lags because of me.(Every time) But when I play a 1v1, it's fine. I can't get into multi player games without a lag problem.

Because when you have more than 2 players in the game all the computers in the game send information to each other. The more people in the game the more factors for lag there is (your connection is only as good as the poorest in the game). Try playing with all broadband users.

thanx for the replies, but I already know that. I have tried many times and not once can I get a game that I can play. Like I said, at home I have a 256K modem and I can get into the games and play just fine. At my apartment I installed StarCraft into his pc and I go into battlenet, any multi player game with more then 3 players is slow. very slow. It's not even playable. I have cable modem but something is blocking my speed. I don't know if it's a firewall, memory, or an update needed to my instalation.

sc not only runs as fast as the slowest internet connection, it also runs as fast as the slowest pc, if ur pc can't handle more than 1 dude in a game, it runs slower, so it runs slower with the other players too

Hi, I think this post is related to the router post. I have the same exact problem... I can play 1v1 just fine, but when just one more person joins, I'll lag out... I just reformatted my computer, installed windows 98 (because supposedly XP was the problem) but I still have the same problem... I know it's not the cable speed because I can download up to 400kb per second and the slowest I've seen it at is 50kb. Any help would be greatly appreciated
