"Picked <something>" is only valid inside "pick every ..."

Whether "learn skill" will work depends on your map.
Does your Hero already have that ability?

so i have to change my conditions?

and the test hero im using doesnt have the ability but when i make my custom units he will have the ability, im having some problems with this that i stumbled upon when testing which wasnt a bad thing actually... but the problem is this i wanna pout the item so its wont do anything but interact with the trigger to make the ability level up, whats a good default item i should use so you can left click to use?

Yes, you do want "Item being manipulated", not "picked item".
Whether "item type ..." comes first or second doesn't matter, of course.

Items tend to be very user friendly.
I never had any trouble with using whatever base item,
to create any customs.
Even the same one for a whole bunch of customs...

well ive tried using mana regain but that only works if manas not at the max ill just flip thru the items and find one

Ah, yes, of course, the ability must be usable by the unit...
But, just take one like, for example, "add damage", and set the damage added to 0.
