Hi there! I had this problem too but i fixed it:

Go into your BF gamedir\Mods\bf1942\Settings and open VideoDefault.con with editor. After that change "renderer.allowAllRefreshRates" from 0 to 1 !!! That should help!!!

didn't work for me.

I have this problem on both my machines- i bought the game and have NEVER been able to get it to launch

#1- AMD XP1900+ w/ 256Mb DDR PC2100, Leadtek TI4400 vid card

#2- AMD 900Mhz w/ 512 SDRam, Nvidia TNT2 16Mb card.
