Looks sick, I had a similar idea, but my SC2 editing skills are.... not good :p

It is pretty impressive.

But that's about it since it really is just an imitation and SC2 editor is too limited to get it anywhere near as good as the actual WoW.

Meh, could just be the automated removal from youtube that took the video accidently down, there are other World of Starcraft videos that they didn't remove, doesn't make much sense to delete only one of them...

Also:
They put out a tool to let us do anything and then shut us down when we get too good with it?

EDIT: nvm

Apparently you're only allowed to use the name "World of Starcraft" as long as your project doesn't get somewhat popular.

I'd just change the name of the project and make a new trailer.

The weird thing is how Blizzard is acting, they have never shown real care or interest in the custom game field. I could call my game World of Starcraft easily in Battle.net 1.0 and it wouldn't have been a big deal? I mean I am pretty sure there is a World of Starcraft on Wc3.

It really confuses me how Blizzard is acting, because if they want their systems to be more like Valve they can't be so fickle when it comes to Custom Map designers.

MIZ, I shall explain.

First of all this isn't blizzard. this is Activision. There is a difference- Blizzard is a company that makes few but quallity games. Activision spams games. The reason why this pissed activision is because they are affraid of a new dota- it is a phenomenom- a small mod, with MILLIONS of fans, one of the biggest COMPETITIVE games. And they have NO CONTROL. You have told me that you haven't played SCII. I, as a player with close to a 1,000 league games played (and a couple of hundret custom games) I can tell you that the SCII melee is the finest RTS game I have ever played. The mixure between a city builder, micro and macro is just amazing. ( BlooDCounT <- SCII fanboy) Only the old Command and Conquer can be compared to SCII (because you have brutal battle systems there, the SCII is a bit too common)

My point is, too much work and resourses have been put into this game so that would be the leading competitive cyber sport in the world, so that some modders can abuse the ideas from BLIZZARD's WOW and shake the throne of SCII.

Or the shortest version-> Blizz doesn't want to split the SCII gamers, not until the final expansion has come out.

The video on youtube went viral and there were several articles about it on the Internet. Some writers misunderstood the entire thing and made it sound like a standalone game. That's probably what got Blizzard's attention and made them react.

Anyways, it's all cleared out now and they're flying the creator down to Blizzard HQ and giving him a guided tour.

Not going to defend what blizzard did, but a lot of news articles spreading this around DID NOT MENTION that it was a sc2 mod. Blizzard usually contacts the modders\takes the map of B.net if they have an issue - I'm betting it was some guy in the Blizzard Activision legal department who didn't really know what sc2 looked like. (Taken from his thread: "We talked for a while and apparently some people from Blizz were concerned I was developing the game somehow outside of SC2.")

Not that they could really say "Ooops, we were wrong" at that point. The guy was getting job offers and things like that.

From what I have heard and read, Blizzard do not plan to create their own WoS (World of Starcraft) and that is why they haved called in this mod's developer(s?) to a meeting. They are actually planing (from what I have heard, but rumors will allways be rumors) to support this mod with money, serverhosting and additional models. Hope this is a true rumor!

Yeah I also heard that Michael Jackson will do the voice acting for Zeratul.

Blizzard supporting a mod with money, servers and models? Yea right..

They didn't even do that for DotA. They won't do it for WoS either.

I ordered like five blocks for 15 dollars. They're just little aluminum blocks with holes drilled into them
  • Varine Varine:
They are pretty much disposable. I have shitty nozzles though, and I don't think these were designed for how hot I've run them
  • Varine Varine:
I tried to extract it but the thing is pretty stuck. Idk what else I can use this for
  • Varine Varine:
I'll throw it into my scrap stuff box, I'm sure can be used for something
  • Varine Varine:
I have spare parts for like, everything BUT that block lol. Oh well, I'll print this shit next week I guess. Hopefully it fits
  • Varine Varine:
I see that, despite your insistence to the contrary, we are becoming a recipe website
  • Varine Varine:
    Which is unique I guess.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air
