arrrrgh! I cant make it to work! I have the skins in my import manager. I change the path of the skin too the unit, for example the anime schoolgirl. I double click on it and change its path too the sorceress. But then it looks exaktly like the sorceress. What am i doing wrong?
 
did you change the path exactly, or does it have a blp extension on the end instead of mdx? You won't be able to see it in the editor until you restart the editor remember. You should see it in the game though.

wheres the anime schoolgirl from? campaigncreations?
 
It doesn't work with the demon hunter either...... This is what I did: I put units/nightelf/herodemonhunter/herodemonhunter.mdx in its path. Then I "tested" the map from the world editor, but he still had his 2bladed weapon:( .

Yes the anime school girl is from campaigncreations.

The path for the skin should be

units/nightelf/herodemonhunter/herodemonhunter.blp
 
OMG!!!!! I put blp instead of mdx but it doesn't work!!! WHAT IS WRONG!
 
What is wrong with you? You don't have to be so agressive because someone fails in helping you. Perhaps you must change the "adress" to the location of the file? Or perhaps instead? Or perhaps you have to import it in some WC3file? Perhaps it's worth trying, however I know nothing about skinning.

ok, this is EXACTLY what i do:

1. I download the demonsworder (Illadin 1bladed) from campaigncreations.

2. I start the world editor, open the import manager and export the "demonsworder" to the import manager.

3. I "double click" on it and change it's path to units/nightelf/herodemonhunter/herodemonhunter.

4. I test the map from the world editor and he has his 2bladed weapon as usual.

What am I doing wrong?
 
hmm ok I'm gonna try downloading the skin and I'll test it and see if I can get it to work.
 
hmm I think i discovered your problem. The anime schoolgirl is a custom model not a custom skin.

Just import the model and change the path to Units\[modelname.mdx] , then restart the editor and then you will be able to use the custom model wherever you want.

The demon hunter skin you were using, is it the dark elves demon hunter? I guess thats it, its the only DH skin there. There's also a custom model called elf hunter too. I'm gonna try it now anyway.
 
wtf is going on, you were right it doesn't work!

i'm gonna have to try mucking around with a couple of things, I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Just import the model and change the path to Units\[modelname.mdx]

where modelname.mdx is whatever name you want, it doesn't matter. Remember to restart the editor though, otherwise you won't see it.
 
so the path for anime schoolgirl is: units\units/human/sorceress/sorceress?
 
nono the path is whatever you want, but to keep things simple I always say to use Units\

The filename is also whatever you want.

So your anime schoolgirl might look like:

Units\animeschoolgirl.mdx
 
But if the path does not mean anything........ Then what shall I exactly do to get the skin to my map??? I'm sorry for my continues questions. I must be pretty anoying:)

For a model the path only matters to the extent that it exists in the mpq files. The path Units\ does exist in the mpq files and is therefore a valid path.

A skin on the other hand is totally unit dependant, and so the path where a skin goes totally depends on what path the unit has.

the schoolgirl or the DH? Remember, the schoolgirl is a model. And sorry, I can't figure out whats wrong with the DH, its totally fuxxored. I might try to edit it or something and see if that produces anything.
 
but if I take a skin........ for example the evil arthas. It is the death knight skin placed on the unit arthas (weilding frostmourne).

    and i dont think I am going to close the site it is just likely to change drastically but I am working on something for the interim still fleshing it out. My pack is already too heavy so I can't bring alcohol, and that might be a benefit to me. Like had that probation and couldn't drink, but it's a bit different when you can't do something voluntarily versus threat of literal imprisonment
