Making dummy cast spell

how can i make a dummy cast a spell (or GUI spell)?
please post the trigger and variables(if it requires one)

You use preset orders if you want a dummy unit to cast a custom spell depending on what you based it on.

Lets say you made a custom spell based on the orc farseer's chain lightning and you made it to a unit spell.

In the trigger's actions you would do:
Unit - Order unit to Orc Farseer - Chain Lightning (WHATEVERUNIT)

what if the skill is based on a skill other than heroes skill? lets say its originally owned by creeps?

Ugh, I don't know about channel... Try:

unit - order unit to do something targeting a unit

neutral - channel?

I dunno, just a guess.

hmmm.

how about i show you the skill that i need to cast?
its called "shadow burst" i downloaded it here at the spell section
it want that skill(shadow burst) to be casted by a dummy after he dies or his time expires

heres the trigger
Trigger:
  • Shadow Summoning Spell
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Dies
    • Conditions
      • (Custom value of (Triggering unit)) Equal to 1337
    • Actions
      • -------- Create dummy unit and make it cast a spell :O --------
      • Special Effect - Create a special effect attached to the overhead of (Triggering unit) using Abilities\Spells\Undead\DeathPact\DeathPactTarget.mdl
      • Unit - Remove (Triggering unit) from the game
      • Special Effect - Destroy (Last created special effect)
      • Unit - Create 1 Shadow dummy for (Owner of (Triggering unit)) at (Position of (Triggering unit)) facing Default building facing degrees
      • Unit - Add Shadow Burst to (Triggering unit)
      • Unit - Add a 3.00 second Generic expiration timer to (Last created unit)
      • Unit - Order (Last created unit) to Undead Death Knight - Death Pact (Last created unit)
      • Custom script: call RemoveLocation(udg_temp_point)

custom value 1337 = triggering unit

I'm pretty sure undead - death knight death pact won't work. I can't really look at your map right now since I'm on my iPod... But I will examine it tomorrow :thup:


And if your REALLY desperate, you can always just make a new spell and base it off something else.


Wait, is that a hero spell?

Base Order ID for that spell is set to controlmagic, so just do Human Spell Breaker - Control Magic.

Note!

Make sure the dummy is able to cast the ability. So make sure the spell the dummy needs to cast does not not require anything to cast.
- Dummy spell mana cost to 0.
- Techtree dependies check = false.
- Make sure the dummy does not already have a spell that has same order-ID.
- (Optional) Cooldown to 0.

Pretty much the standard things I do, but I like having some sort of checklist.
If I forgot anything please add it. I hope this helps anyone. :eek:

Here, I fixed the map I made before :O
- I just run the spell trigger without making a dummy cast it, seemed easier :O
