I like to give my appreciation and a worthy mention to a map maker who created the original Angel Arena series.

The map author's alias is LiL_Devil_Child, I haven't seen the author online nor has made any contacts available.

Because I am re-designing a map based on their original ideas and I would like to share the project to have his name mentioned as Thanks.

I am aware that there are edited versions and various releases of the map, if I could find out if the author does happen to read through, they need some sort of a Thank You sort of thing, and releases (most) haven't given them the credits they deserve so I've decided to ask here if anyone knows who the person, is to please if he will accept my thanks for his ideas.

Thanks a bunch.

Lil quit WC a long time ago. I was friends with him so I took up fixing the map up a bit when he left. The generally played version now is an edit by someone else, with the cheap tomes and shit.
Anyway, the map is open. Feel free to work off of it. Thanking the original author is a very decent thing to do. :)

Cheers.

I do like to continue on with the Angel Arena Series project, and will certainly like to have his name mentioned upcon completion.

I agree with the current Angel Arena maps that, the edited versions don't offer a lot of variety. My original plan for my first map was an aos dota based map, after hearing a lot of negative feedback about it, I've decided that Angel Arena maps were probably be more appealing to me, but most often lack balancing issues.

Right now, instead of using the existing code, I've decided to take the next step and re-write the codes myself, and it's taking ages just to get things right. Already there have been a few mixed responses about the map being a multi-modal map.

Maps like D-Day and Green, Element TD maps have impacted the players.

Maybe it's about time, if people are dedicated about thier work, they want to show the best out of them.

When I mapped (I've essentially stopped now), I mapped for myself. I made maps that I would enjoy, and that my friends would enjoy. I was lucky in that a few of those turned out to be what a lot of other people liked, such as Murder at the Mansion and Sheep Tag Swap.

Yes, Angel Arena does have balancing flaws. I attempted to fix them, but I was like, 14-15, so I didn't understand 70% of the things needed to be done.

I really felt that Angel Arena wasn't, for lack of a better word, "organized" enough. It seems a little mismatched in parts, and a bit too broad.
Maybe you could cut off the hero selection areas, and make more tooltips as to how you can do things.

A few interesting points you've made up there. whilst we do agree that Angel Arena maps are not well balanced atm, I aim and strive to improve on it's image so that it becomes appealing once the basic foundations are set.

At this stage the progress has been slow, you can however checkup on the preview that I've set Battle Arena Zero Rel.

you can see why it's been taking me months already (since july 06) when it was first worked on and (feb 06) when I've released some versions of Angel Arena Z.

I've decided to rename it as Battle Arena Zero in order to maintain the maps orginality whilst at the same time, also implemented all the functions of what angel arena has and more.

In case you were wondering why the middle of the map has a 3 corridors layout is that I'm establishing a multi-mode map system, but it will happen sequentially (one instance at a time). At this stage I'll be setting up the functions of angel arena and then work on the next phase of getting the hero defense mode happening.

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
