A few of my poems

[C-Death]

Hello everyone! I've decided to share a few of my poems, hoping to gather feedback!

I feel there are a couple of things you should know before you begin to read. First of all, I'm quite new to poetry, so adjust your expectations accordingly. Second, English is not my native language. Though I think I've learned it decently well, I still expect that I've made quite a few errors.

I don't know why I decided to start poetry, but I'm glad I did. I guess the inspiration just sort of hit me. So, without further delay: my poems.

Not in vain

My greatest sin is worry,
from which my vision is blurry.
I often wonder aloud:
have I lost you to the crowd?
Have you fallen for a better man?
Was it an accident? Or was this your plan?
Oh so far away you reside,
Leaving me almost dead inside.
Did I love you just too little?
Or was my warmth just too brittle?
Did I not hold you when you’d cry?
Or was all of this a lie?
Did I ignore the simple truth?
On you was wasted my simple youth.
For in my eyes, there was none greater than you,
Oh, if you only knew!
If you only knew half my pain,
then our time together would not have been in vain.

In my hour of death

Why oh why can I not see the sky?
has it truly come, my time to die?
Without your light I cannot see,
so brighten me, for this I gladly plea!
For without your light I am no longer,
so now in my hour of death I ponder:
Why did you leave?
For without you, I cannot breathe!
I know now that you deserved greater,
but in my heart, you've left a crater.
Soon I depart for the eternal palace,
but of me, I pray you hold no malice!
It was not you that loaded my gun,
so I sit here and wonder where this all begun.
I remember when I saw your eyes;
they shined your brilliance in the skies!
I remember when first I kissed your angelic lips;
the sun was black, lost to an eclipse!
At first, I hated you, and you hated me,
then we realized: we were meant to be!
Many laughs came from our friends,
they never thought we’d make amends.
I knew that loving you would be a crime,
but girl I thought you worth the time!
As I pull the trigger, my vision goes black,
I spend my last moments wishing we could go back!
I wish we could go back to our greatest time,
Remember when we sat in my car, and smoked our first dime?
Things were beautifully simple then,
oh yes, I remember when!
I thought myself young but wise,
but I was simply lost in your eyes.
Will god see it fit to grant me a second chance?
or am I doomed to the eternal expanse?
Without your light it matters not,
you've doomed me, the end to my plot.
So in my final moments I can’t help but wonder:
Where did we go asunder?
Perhaps it was you and not me,
but babe, I thought us meant to be!
So I leave you now, but shed not a tear!
For in death, all things become clear!
The fault is mine that we parted in hate,
was it my actions? Or simply fate?
So as you stand before my ashen body,
do you still think my words so gaudy?
For to you I was nothing but a toy,
a meaningless spirit you could use and destroy.
As you stand before my lifeless body you feel bad,
you never imagined my thoughts quite so sad!
Without your warmth to comfort me now I see,
this is how we were meant to be!
So now I say goodbye,
but not a tear I cry.
Without you I’m better off dead,
I no longer control the voices in my head!
So with a BANG I’m off to the eternal hell,
where thoughts of you seem still to dwell.
In the hour of my death do not mourn,
I’m better off dead, my spirits ripped and torn!
I wish you only happiness, a joyful life,
for to one man, you will be the perfect wife!
I’m sad to say that I am not that man,
but I realize now: this was all your plan!
You did not know that I would take my own life,
but it was you that handed me the knife!
So in the hour of my death I do not cry,
A life without you? I’d rather die!

Our love

Our love was like a tower,
for once inside, I've no need to cower!
Our love was like a structure, which would never fall,
oh how my heart would race, when I simply heard your call!
Through all of our problems, I thought we would endure,
but then I saw your actions, and thought them quite obscure.
Though I wondered, I’d never ask,
are your words true? Or just a mask?
I never asked where you went at night,
I loved you too much; I’d hate it when we’d fight!
You said your love for me was absolutely true,
that’s why I broke, that night that you flew.
I found you with the man that I loved to call my brother,
I had always feared that you’d fall for some other!
My heart was broken, and still I’m in pain,
the sorrow falls on me, as does a fierce summer rain!
For in your eyes I was lost,
gambling on you, I never considered the cost.
I guess I’ll say goodbye, and wish you just the best,
for my spirit now comes the ultimate test.
