Acti-Blizz scheduling Starcraft for 2009...

"Activision are currently having the time of their lives, with Blizzard and themselves joining hands in one of the now biggest gaming companies around. Activision Blizzard are currently holding the Activate Asia Pacific conference in Auckland New Zealand to show their sales prowess from the Christmas line-up to regional representatives of retailers. In the fray, Managing Director Philip Earl made quite bold predictions about market shares for the upcoming Christmas, including sales of Wrath of the Lich King.

The interesting fact with this presentation is that while we recently got confirmation that StarCraft II won't be joining us for the Christmas of 2008, we WILL be seeing StarCraft II sometime during 2009.

Next year's offerings from Activision Blizzard should include highly anticipated PC strategy title StarCraft II, the sequel to one of the world's most enduringly popular games.

While this isn't a bold statement by any measure, it's nice to hear that communication inside the massive company talks in the terms of "2009" rather than "sometime in the distant future". Most predictions of StarCraft II's release date range around 2009, so fans will not get overly surprised by this announcement. Seeing how the release schedule for Diablo II is at least slightly linked to that of StarCraft II there are probably plenty of Diablo fans out there that are happy to know this.

A word of caution though! Even though Activision Blizzard owns Blizzard, they have always been a very independent company, regardless of owners, and could very well hold StarCraft back to 2010 just to prove us wrong... "

Typically Blizzard, dont mean to say they should rush they're games but Starcraft 2 appeared in E3 2007, to be a dissapointment because it didnt come out that year, but now we realise, it wont make its debut in 2008 either?

Starcraft 2 had better reach my expectations, but if you ask me, they might be making the game a wee little bit too overcomplicated. but then again, I'll only know when in appears in the shops  (I just hope it wont be prolonged to 2010 :D)

ugh, yet another delay. There's seriously something wrong when they say they've been secretly working on a game for 6 years yet don't even hesitate when they say it'll take another 8 years to complete. But as long as the game is good, I'll be happy :)

I think this is why it's probably best to not announce these things too early. Games taking too long to ship from the official announce date kills all the excitement of it.

I'll buy this game for sure, but I'm not going to play it with the same enthusiasm I had back around E3 2007.

I'll wait for it all the time it takes, I just hope it won't disappoint me. If it does I will sue Blizzard .

Eh for me its all about is the part of the game i care about done. Or am i waiting for a single player campaign for a ect year, that doesn't interest me.

Also For me Knowing the days is always nice, but i understand that even what they say is in estimate.

I Plan to buy a computer just for it. I have been waiting for the next big blizzard game to buy a new computer, for about 4-5 years. And i will most likely get a computer with the new chip from Intel the i7, and wait a year from now to get windows 7 with it. After that starcraft 2 should be out or coming out really soon. :)

It might just be me and my stupidity, but I don't remember a blizzard game coming out during the summer. It always seems to be like October or November. So if Blizz leans towards 2009, that means we'll have to go an extra year without the game! *sad face of torture*

@ Beetlebomb Good observation, Though i must add, if games were released in the summer they 'might' be a little less impressive (dont know why :p) but autumn winter times always seems more like the time for good games to come out.

Plus, their name is 'blizzard', a winter-specific phenomena ;).

I don't believe it came out here in California at that time.

If so, that's quite ironic-- hehe. Like what Smith_S9 said.

I don't think that this has anything to do with them releasing it in the winter.
If I recall correct, neither SC1 nor WC1 was released in the winter either, not sure about WC2 tho.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (War3 or WC3 or RoC) is a real-time strategy computer game released by Blizzard Entertainment on July 5th 2002(US). It is the second sequel to Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and it is the third game set in the Warcraft Universe. An expansion pack, The Frozen Throne, was released on July 1st 2003(US).

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
