Add armor?

hello, ive come back to wc3 editing business :)

is there any way to add and remove armor on a unit without using abilities and add and remove them?

EDIT: i could add some things:

in my map i have lots of tiles, the players are converting these tiles.

i would like to have the armor display the number of tiles you currently control.

i cant use the add item armor ability since you can only have 100 levels on the ability.

i cant use tomes since for that the unit needs to be a hero and mine is not, and i dont want any of the hero stuff, like agility, strength, etc.

There's no way to do it without using abilities. And 100 armor doesn't need 100 levels. All you need is 2 different abilities with 10 levels each.

1st Armor ability (10 levels) - 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
2nd Armor ability (10 levels) - 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90

This combination will allow you to have up to 99 armor. If you need 100 exact, you'd need 1 more ability.

i would really want to change the base armor, but i guess thats quite impossible with my restrictions :( i will probably do as you said unless i find another solution.

Yeah, it's impossible to change the base armor, except using upgrades. But upgrades cannot be degraded in terms of level.

hey, just a thought, can you change the color of the strength, agility and intelligence values by setting the attributes names to |c000000?

because then i could use that + textures\black32 as icon for the attributes, then i might be able to use a hero instead. though, can you decrease armor with a negative tome?

I believe it's possible, haven't tried.

And I think it's valid to decrease a Hero's armor via tomes. Doesn't tome (armor) on work units with inventory as well?

The snippet I made might be able to help. Check out 'Set Damage' in my signature. It's for damage. But just change the ability to armor ones instead and it will work the same.

Damage/Armor settings work with the basis of what is been suggested posts above.

i checked it out and it looks good so far, but is it working with several units owned by different players? i will need to update the armor like every .50 seconds on at most 12 different units, all owned by different players..

and i dont have to change anything in the triggers except target and change damage bonus to armor bonus?

Yeah. That's about it. Only the ability. You can change the name of the variables if you want to. Also, make sure the armor abilities have proper bonuses set in their respective levels.

Try it out. :)

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
