For cinematics I don't think there would be too much difference.

You don't need MUI or anything like that.

How? o_O
It's easier to time, and it's easier to move the cameras around and stuff.

Then again, it's different if you're just starting Jass to when you're very experienced.

You can use one cinematic system for GUI, or at least that I know of, with the usage of custom scripts. It was in Wc3c.

Even though I don't really use WE much (if at all) anymore, JASS

Full screen inventory? Units could be used - not as pretty, but it'd get the job done. 2 lines of Custom Script would be about enough, apart from leak removal and such.

I was talking about Toadcop's inventory system in WC3C, make that in 2 lines if you can :p

I usually use Jass but in custom script cause then i can give it to a guier and he wont touch the custom scripts
I also use it for the events cause im too lazy to figure it out
So hence why i voted Both because i use both
Also i think its funny how the first page (except tom Jones) don't realize(or acknowledge) that GUI Is Jass Also GUI Is an Acronym For Something totally now related to any language for that manner all GUI is is Graphical User Interface So Anything thats not essential Batch is GUI like the Buttons when you start Up Wc3 are GUI the back and froward buttons in your browser are GUI The "Post reply" Button at the bottom of posts here at TH is GUI

Also IMO vJass isn't a language on its own ether cause once compiled it becomes Jass the only thing vJass in essence is give the Coder (shortcuts) to normally longer process's
Also with Library's it made it easier for GUIers to Get Jass spells although they need a vJass Compiler so it can be translated into Jass when saving the map

I prefer GUI over JASS for a few of reasons:
-- It's a lot easier to use
-- It's easier to understand at a glance. JASS you really need to spend a few minutes looking at it before you completely understand whats going on
-- I don't have a lot of time on my schedule to try to learn JASS while making my maps. Its too time consuming for me.

And anyways, GUI does the job perfectly well and it's fun to use in my opinion.

@ CaptDeath:
Do you think you are awesomely clever, or that everyone is awesomely stupid?

I think this thread is also becoming a little pointless. As I said before, everyone who is good at Jass will prefer it.
Everyone who isn't good at Jass will prefer GUI.
Then there will be some people who say they like both because they're (or at least trying to) learning Jass.

The majority doesn't know Jass. Thus, the majority prefers GUI.
It's as simple as that, really.

Making cinematic in JASS is retarded.

You obviously never watch a cinematic made in JASS.

Try watch The Spirit of Vengeance by Anitarf and Infrane, then tell me if there is any battle cinematic made in GUI use little to no special effect at all and still give the audience a impressive feeling.

JASS cinematic have a lot of difference that make it better compare to GUI cinematic. ;)

If you give a GUI'er JASS scripts, he's not going to touch those either. What does this have to do with anything?

I also use it for the events cause im too lazy to figure it out

I used to do this for a while as well. Then I realized the power of initializing things in an Init function.

Yes, these are all GUIs. We use the term "GUI" to refer to the point and click interface used to create triggers, because there is no other term for it. It is a "GUI" layered upon the actual language itself, JASS. Every person who uses JASS knows this. If they don't acknowledge it, it's not from a lack of knowing.

Also IMO vJass isn't a language on its own ether cause once compiled it becomes Jass the only thing vJass in essence is give the Coder (shortcuts) to normally longer process's

This is essentially the same as saying that Java or Python are not languages, because they have to be compiled. The language has to be compiled before it can be run.

If we are nitpicking, dear CaptDeath, I would like to point the following out.

Not only aren't Java and Python real languages, according to your point of view: JASS isn't a real language either, because it gets compiled to bytecode before being executed by the JASS VM.
We call vJASS a PREcompiler because, while not compiling the code into executable statements, it does compile the code into a subform that will be finally compiled to aforementioned byte code.

For the term 'GUI', you have to accept the community's naming conventions (just like a "memory leak" is something slightly different when not used in the context of a Wc3 engine), just the way I had.

And using Custom Script in the GUI in order to make your code unreadable and unmaintainable is all but witty.

Best wishes, Davey

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
