Weird [Art] Aroused 'Jesus' statue outrage

A CONTROVERSIAL piece of artwork has been blasted by a Christian group - because it depicts Jesus with an erect penis.

The statue is one of 74 plaster models in exhibition 'Gone, Yet Still' by Chinese-born artist Terence Koh, which features sculptures from Michelangelo’s David to ET.

The artwork is being exhibited by the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead which was earlier embroiled in controversy when it was at the centre of a child porn probe over one of its works.

Evangelical group Christian Voice expressed outrage at the work, calling it blasphemous and saying it had created a “storm” of protest.

yeah, that thing he never used. The statue is kind of ugly, not due to the jessus thing, i think thats funny and the only reason i would ever want it lol. but i am sure art like that is everywhere in this world, why so much attention on this one....

and to the above, we can full well refer to a mass majority like that. just due to you having feelings does not mean most of you guys do. and you don't get to be picky about it, whatever a majority is doing, is what is accepted as how they are. thus you cant say they are not real christians, they can say that to you.

Then my pastor wouldn't be christian. That is what I mean, there are so many flaws and ... hypocracies in the religious leaders.
It's just that I hate that so many religious people (in all/most religions) judge people, without looking at themselves.

4-How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?

and yes it would be, but there is no way on earth to speak of a people without doing so.Ideals are different then race etc etc. i can say that most panamanians speak spannish in this world. thats due to them being raised in the culture, not the fact they are panamanian.

I don't believe in god, and I haven't told them (would make them very very sad) I completely respect their religion, and any other. I believe everyone has the right to believe in what they want, as long as they don't try to "shove" it in other people, or hurt others.
Religion isn't all bad, or at least, it wasn't.

I'm a atheist, i have told my parents, after about 2 years though lol. at one point i just got so fed up with it all lol. i was not angry with there belief, i was angry that i had to live a lie for there comfort. I can not STAND lieing.

anyway, i edited my last post aswell. but the thing is, there are vast amounts of artwork like this, why attack this one... and no one has the right to say you shall not create art, just due to the fact that you don't like it. art is above them -_-.

how is it offensive to state facts of our lives, and facts of the world and it's history?

it is fact that there is a great deal of child rape in the catholic church, can you deny this? no. does it offend "people" maybe. but seeing as non of these "people" you speak of have said that they personally are offended, i don't see where you are comming from.

I am an atheist, and am NEVER offended with religion, I understand peoples faith, and respect them for that. I am secure in what I believe in, so hearing someone elses side, never hurts me. Sometimes it's even amusing.
