Assigning Unit Groups With Triggers

In-game, if you select (a) unit(s) and press ctrl + #, you assign unit control groups. can you assign variable Unit Groups to Control Groups with triggers?

im not sure but i would experiment with

game - force player UI key

they force the player to hit ctrl and a number
i doubt it will work unless you can somehow make them hold the key down

As far as I know, it's impossible. Which is why people prefer to use Chaos or morphing abilities instead of using 'Replace unit'. Using the former 2 will keep the assigned group key.

ok i just tested and chaos will not work because it doesn't change what the shop sells, i need chaos to be able to change the items that the shop sells as well. (think of this as a multi-page shop)
