Astral Imprisonment (Just looking for guidelines)

For those of you who've played DotA, you'd know that there's one spell called 'Astral Imprisonment'

I want to replicate these parts of the spell:
1)Spell is cast on unit
2)Unit is "hidden" (Not invisible, like, locust + no model file)
3)A few seconds later..
4)Unit re-appears


How would I go about this? o.0

you make a dummy unit
tell the dummy to devour the target unit
give the dummy unit an expiration timer

devour is the orc kodo skill
if you dont give the dummy a expiration timer then the unit will stay devoured forever

I believe it's done by hiding the unit? Under the GUI action,

• Actions
  • Unit - Hide (Triggering unit)

Hide and Unhide the unit. Create special effect at the point. You basically already explained what to do in your post.

Hide basically hides the unit from the game (removes unit model, selection, etc). And unhide reveals the unit again obviously. Just create a dummy unit with the special effect you want and create it and hide the caster and pause it.
