NEW YORK, July 05, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Atari® — one of the world's most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers — today announced a strategic collaboration with Playmaji, Inc., the Los Angeles-based company behind the modular multi-system game console Polymega®. The Polymega game console lets players enjoy original game cartridges and CDs for classic game consoles on HDTVs.

The partnership includes strategic initiatives that will provide support for Atari games on Polymega hardware and software and integration between Polymega and the Atari VCS.

The Atari VCS will add support for the Polymega App and the Polymega Remix add-on. This will effectively provide all of the functionality of a Polymega console to Atari VCS owners.

In addition, a new cartridge module will be developed that will add Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 compatibility to the Polymega console. The addition of this cartridge module will make Atari’s 2600 and 7800 games more accessible to retro enthusiasts and expand the market for Atari’s line of collectible game cartridges.

Atari-owned games will also be sold in the Polymega storefront, giving Atari enthusiasts an additional way to access timeless Atari content and an additional platform on which the company can commercialize its extensive back catalog of video games.

“Polymega’s innovative approach to retro hardware is perfectly aligned with Atari’s goals in retro gaming,” said Wade Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Atari. “This partnership greatly expands the capabilities of the Atari VCS while also making the Polymega platform itself more compelling. I know fans will be excited to see Atari games added to Polymega’s growing ecosystem.”

“This partnership is a vote of confidence in Polymega; it expands our audience and adds compatibility support for one of the most important brands in retro gaming,” said Bryan Bernal, Chief Executive Officer of Playmaji. “This is an important step in the growth of our platform, and we look forward to working with Atari in the important space of retro innovation.”

In concert with the partnership, Atari has also completed a minority investment into Playmaji.

“I look forward to working with the team at Polymega as they evolve their modular gaming console. Polymega’s approach fills an important need in the market, providing a hardware solution that allows players to legally access classic retro content while respecting game companies’ intellectual property,” added Rosen.

This is huge news for Atari fans because it says alot of things about what is up with Atari now. Wade Rosen is a genius and has been doing a bunch of stuff for Atari lately that if you have been watching, is freaking awesome. From acquiring Nightdive to even Atari buying Mobygames he is laying an infrastructure. Buying up that old IP (Stern, MNetwork, etc) that old Atari sold off and padding it up with some extras that will come up in the future.

This Polymega deal is linking to the Atari VCS and the Niche market and targetting 2600 and 7800 games now but will quickly include 5200 games and Jaguar when they finally get smart and licesnse BigPEmu into the Atari VCS. Maybe they add Atari 8 Bit as well as Lynx and the Atari ST seems to be forgotten by new Atari. Old Atari has not forgotten it though. If they ever go for ST Games and all the other Atari platforms that will really satisfy the Atari die hards.

Even AtariAge is feeling it as Atari becomes aware of the IP issues with that site and AtariAge is removing all the games it does not have IP for. I really hope new Atari can come to some kind of deal with Albert the head of AtariAge that is cool so they can fold in the old Atari people completely. The Atari VCS is the perfect platform to showcase Reboot and CyranoJ stuff plus all the other genius Atari content creators on that site!

Also hope to see Carl at Songbird do something with new Atari as well. If they were smart they would reach out to him. He is a major publisher of Atari Games as well.

Atari is about to blow up and this site is going to cover that!

Go Atari!

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net
  • Monovertex Monovertex:
Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
