Behind the Wheel driving test

So, I'm taking my behind the wheel driving test for my license this Friday and I'm a little apprehensive about it. The DMV in my home town is booked so I had to go to another where I'm not too familiar with the streets, and lots of J-walking goes on.
I'm a fine driver, but you can't help to be nervous, so I was hoping to get some advice, or tips from people who have taken the test before, and hopefully calm my nerves.

Everyone's nervous, just know that.
After like 2min driving, you won't even care, you'll be too busy making sure you don't go over the speed limit and such.

I would do a test drive around this unfamiliar DMV if I were you, but either way, if you're a decent driver you should do fine.

I failed my first one because I was too nervous. I couldn't think straight. I tried to talk about politics to calm me down, but that made things worse. My suggestion is that you shouldn't talk or do anything that may distract you and the instructor. Focus on your driving even though you've done it a thousand times before.

My second test was in a town I've never been to. I passed with flying colors. I suppose the reason I did so well was because I had fun driving in a new part of my state. Sometimes driving in the same area just makes things worse for some people. :p

The driving part should be simple, but what isn't easy is staying focus on the task at hand. Good luck!

Don't worry. If its as easy as any driving test up here in Canada, knowing how to turn the steering wheel and pressing the gas peddle will get you a liscense.

Good luck!

I passed mine the first try, and also passed my Class M test the first try too. You just have to go into the place knowing you can do it and you should have no problem, provided you really can drive... Lol

Failure is the best way to cure your nervousness.

If you fail the test, you'll realize its not the end of the world, and you can just take it again the next day. It's a huge comfort knowing that nothing changes if you fail, you just keep trying.

Have enough alcohol before it to take off the 'edge' and your nervous issue will be gone. I'd recommend 4oz of Greygoose vodka.
Don't listen on Jimpy, its the WORST hint ever

If you fail it here in California, you have to wait two weeks before you can take it again.

The point is, nothing bad happens if you fail, they tell you what you have to work on, you work on it, and then you try again.

Be sure you know how to parallel park. That's the hardest part!

Make sure you stop behind any stop signs. Even if you have to go past the stop sign to see any oncoming traffic, make sure you are completely stopped before it, then pull up to look.

Also, when turning, turn in to the closest lane, and merge into the lane you are going to end up in (they want to know you're prepared for the future, when you make a left/right turn later on).

The rest is all common sense:
Don't speed, Don't go over the lines, and avoid talking with them if they're strict.

Since when do you have to parallel park?

Yeah, we didn't have to parallel park...
We, literally, had to pretty much drive around two blocks, use turn signals, and not hit anything.

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
