Lately, my pc was burnt. (That was what the technician told me)

That day, I was surfing the web, listening music from my fav winamp, and installing the famous PICASA.
There was a hang in motion suddenly, then I manually shut down my computer.
Then, of course, I turn it back on, but after it loads the window, it automatically shut down again.

I push the power button again, and it stop responding from me.
It did nothing.
No matter how much I hit the power and reset button, the computer responds nothing to me.

Without any ways to fix it, I sent it to the computer repairing shop near my house.
Then, after the technician does the checkup, he concludes that my processor and motherboard was grilled.
I was like... (WTFZ!) that moment.

I do doubt the words of the technician, lol.
Wondering will a processor or motherboard will really burnt up?

(Usin lausy laptop currently...)

really i don't think there is a way to check without trying them in a separate computer, but chances are that only one is burnt.. and most likely the motherboard. The good news is that all of your data should be intact and your computer can be repaired by yourself for probably only around $100.

Parts can be "fried".
Repair isn't easy, nor will it be $100. Do you have a warranty on it?

Okay, then let me have you guys oppinion.

My hardisk, 80 gb, divided to 2 partition (C and D), 20gb in C and others in D.
Most of my multimedia files, installer are stored in D.
  • If I'm going to replace my processor, do I have to format my hardisk(C and D)?
  • If I'm going to replace my motherboard, do I have to format my hardisk too? (C and D)
  • Will I lost all my precious data in the hardisk for repairing the pc?
  • Can I take out the hardisk and make a backup of all the data in it? (How?)
  • All I care about is all those files in the partition D of the hardisk, will it gone?

"If I'm going to replace my processor, do I have to format my hardisk(C and D)?"

No.

"If I'm going to replace my motherboard, do I have to format my hardisk too? (C and D)"

No.

"Will I lost all my precious data in the hardisk for repairing the pc?"

Only if you format it.

"Can I take out the hardisk and make a backup of all the data in it? (How?)"

Yes. You will need a working computer though.
Hiren's Boot Disc contains several Hard drive copying tools, also, you can easily download some other free ones, you might want to check out

All I care about is all those files in the partition D of the hardisk, will it gone?"

Only if you format it.

If I format C, D will preserve?

You do not need to format C, though. If you get a new processor and motherboard, you may only need to install some new drivers.

Depends on the new setup actually. Taking a HD from a AGPx8 & single 1.8 to 4xPCI-E and dual 2.6 requires a format.

Ok, thanks~

Any suggestion of processor and motherboard from you guys?

I'm using my computer for gaming, surfing web, making songs, watching video and mainly is for entertaintment. It is not used for business usages, so I think that I don't need that extreme computer.

His burnt proceesor is Pentium D + Intel chipset-based motherboard
RAM no need change since it is 1.5GB, a bit more enough for general usage.
I suggest :
AMD Athlon 7850+ 2.7GHz 3MB L2 Cache
AMD 780G-Motherboard.
(~Gals~ don't have a PCI-E / AGP graphic, 780G currently is the best graphic among it's price)

I wanted to know the RAM because a new mobo proabably won't run DDR 133.

Thanks for filling that gap of information. Somehow?

I have to agree with kingkings suggestion though. If you're looking for a video card, I say check out the 4850 or 4870.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
