can't connect to b.net

hey,
i cant connect to bnet because when i od a message pops up about connecting to the internet manually and stuff...
i've read dteres guide and a load of other people's and i get to the stage where i have to install the latest patch( i havent played in like a year) so i do that, but loads of error messages come up. then it says that it cant be installed and i have to reinstall WC3 again. ive tried this about 5 times already and it still hasen't worked!
and ive opened up 6112 ports and everything...
i was fiddling around and got into the asian server. some problems with that though:
1.connection speed?
2.i cant go on with my mates because there in northrend server
3. what language do they speak!?

Sorry it took me so long to get to your post, finals week. Lets see, have you downloaded the patch manually? http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mwr0744p#patch

Can you run WC3 w/o the patch? As in after a clean install?

Just to be sure too, if the manual patch doesn't work, did you check the port triggering? It allows you to open ports for a certain amount of time, and in my part it disallowed me to go online completely due to fishy reasons ^^.

By the way, why did you reinstall 4 more times if the first time fails ?
