Lulz Security, the hacker group that recently attacked the U.S. Senate, Sony and PBS, said on Twitter that its taken down the website for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

"Tango down - cia.gov - for the lulz," the group's tweet read.

Shortly after LulzSec sent the message on Twitter, the CIA's website was unable to load in multiple attempts on multiple browsers.

The group also said in an earlier tweet Wednesday that it has set up a telephone hotline for public requests on who or what they should attack in the future.

A call to the number listed in the tweet was answered by an answering machine that said the phone could not be answered by an actual person because the group was busy "raping your Internet."

Officials at the CIA were unavailable for comment on Wednesday.

LulzSec Hackers Go to War with 4chan

The celebrity hacking group Lulz Security borrows its name and aesthetics from the roiling message board 4chan. But now the group has declared war on 4chan and its users—many of whom identify with the hacking group Anonymous—pissing off the nerds who are most likely to support their online shenanigans.

It's chaos in the internet's crotch: 4chan was down for much of the afternoon. Lulz Security, the hacking group behind well-publicized PBS and FBI-affiliate hacks, is openly taunting 4channers and members of Anonymous, even crowd-sourcing prank calls against 4chan's web hosting company via their hotline: 614-LULZSEC. In response, 4chan users launched an internet manhunt to track down members of Lulzsec.

The conflict started, as most nerd fights do, over video games. Yesterday, Lulzsec engaged in a spree of hack attacks against gaming and gamers: They downed The Escapist magazine because some commenters said mean stuff about them, then took the games Eve Online, Minecraft and League of Legends—all 4chan favorites—offline.

People watch too much Live Free or Die Hard, and think they will get hired by the CIA for this shit. They probably will.

Lulzsec was also attacked by Jester, the guy that uses numbers in his name. So that was funny.

Is it bad that I find this funny?

What do you find funny? I doubt CIA's website is made to handle heavy traffic so it's not a surprise for them to get DDOS'd easily. It'd be more impressive if they DDOS Google or Amazon, or gain confidential CIA document.

Those sites were downed due to requests, not for the reason of them being the favorites of 4chan.

I'm no internet wizard or anything, but I find it a little funny that the Central Intelligent of one of the strongest countries has a website that can be hacked; however, I doubt the site had anything incredibly important on it.

It wasn't hacked. All they did was DDoS it.

Yeah, this isn't really impressive. Everyone can DDoS a 'small' website. It's basically like DDoSing the Hive, I would guess.

These people really need to get a life. I think they have better things to do than to go around "raping" websites like cia.gov.

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
