I vote a 8.5 (the lip sinking sucks) and please after you vote post an opinion on which race you chose and why you chose it.

Edit: Sorry I forgot to make a poll... just post what you rate it, 1-10 ten being best
1 being worst.

Made it a poll. Of course, if it gets out of hand for some reason, I reserve the right to close it :)

I give it an 8. Lip syncing is awful in a couple scenes, definitely, but the characters were cool again and slightly more reasonable. I found it a rather odd subplot of the older Tiberium wars that the Nod would have a heartless AI running their operations. If they could have somehow created an AI, brainwashing it into Kane's greatness, something they seem to have done this time around, would have been the best choice. Everything having to do with Cabal was odd. I finished it, but I would've rather played some other plot.

But those were the older Tib Wars. Again, this one doesn't have Cabal, and has a much more reasonable plot. The balancing is pretty nice, though a little shoddy around the edges. GDI's Ion Cannon is amazingly powerful and their Mammoth Tanks, when upgraded with rail gun, are more than worth 2500; their slow speed is bothersome but if you build a good ten-twenty of them you won't notice when they're rolling over your enemy's defenses and it adds more to the effect. Nod's Avatars are only better when fully upgraded with all their equipment and then worked on to promote, eventually living up to their cost, which grows because of their need to manually upgrade (through killing units of course).

On the other hand, I love the balance of their towers. Their hubs are pathetic to the point where I would rather build four Obelisks of light in the vicinity and cover up with two-three SAM hubs, but I find this a better defense than GDI, which is lousy. They need better guns--I found myself massing three to six anti-vehicle towers and aa towers with only two-three anti-infantry towers. The Anti-infantry towers seem to be the best at their job, but for some reason they can't rotate up and attack air. GDI seems to have the best offense/defense in just massing mammoth tanks everywhere--they're good at crushing units, vehicles, buildings, AND air. Of course, an escort of stealth detectors would make it the most efficient, but it's not overly necessary, I've found.

Their mech situation is a bit odd. You can climb inside tripods and avatars with engineers and they're ridiculously useful to have in your army, if you bring them back and repair them at a factory. However, I don't know about you, but I think juggernauts suck in this game. Rather, they're very powerful and still cool, but they've lost their edge. They can't flip their barrels up to fire arc shots at a reasonable speed, and are no longer useful for destroying buildings. Their long range attack is too slow and too weak. On the other hand, if I place them behind chasms, they're ridiculously effective at destroying masses of units. Thusly, they seem to be better at defense.

Air's a cool balance. The Scrin are dang annoying because they, without Pitbulls (the most efficient anti AA, I should think), completely outrange you and swarm you with little craft. This should be in line though, because air seems to be one of Scrin's chief advantages, where their melee can get ripped up by a lot of Avatars, obelisks of light, or sonic towers. GDI Orcas are nice for hit and run, but I get Firehawks with Boosters as fast as possible, because that makes them the best air units in the game for down right attacking, though they must return to their very fragile air base. Nod have very nice (and very annoying) hornets when upgraded with laser capacitors. Great for scouting and hit and run (though they don't need to return to their base, efficiently, just need to run away from whatever AA is nearby). Stealth bombers are great when flown in mass (I find eight bombers can take out anything unless the enemy makes a ton of anti AA).

Hmm, how do I change my signature?

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though

Heard Houston got hit pretty bad by storms last night. Hope all is well with TH.
