Fight of Characters(English) [scratch project]

Most people know about the all popular custom hero arena known as Fight of Characters, or FOC

My Goal is to Create my own version of it, where english will be used.

I plan to have as many hero's as possible, and make balance as fun as it can be. (For example, instead of everyone doing damage, Healers/Mages)


I need testers, and people willing to help me, and inspire me to keep going.
Finding the models will be hard, and i will need some help.

I have completed the terrain, it took me three hours to mimic. Check it out here, leave some feedback.

Generally when a map is being re-done it doesnt get as much support as a new map for a few reasons:

• It was already completed once, so it usually doesnt require much help
• Re-doing maps is frowned upon without permission from the original creator (i dont think you mentioned if you contacted them)
• The map was already created once so people rarely expect something "new" out of a remake and dont get super excited about it

that said, (while i never played FoC) you seem to be putting a lot of time and work into this and it seems like it will be fun so i will test it out when you get farther into the project

EDIT: Sorry for the horrible reply, i was on my phone. I'll rewrite it now.

What i was trying to say was, i attempted to contact the original map-maker, whom are korean. They never replied.

This was straight from their forums.

Never request for 8.1X english versions. The probability of someone being ABLE to do it is 0.01.
It's not that no1 wants to translate it, it's because NO1 CAN do it.

They are not against people making English versions to their maps, but they have gone up a few levels lately in map security. They don't mind people translating their maps, which should give me the right to make one from scratch.

What do you mean by "It does not require much help", The models/animations they used are nowhere to be found, and the ones i have it took me cracking maps left and right to obtain (All of which map creators i cannot locate, but credits will be distributed), Also.. Considering this is my first time using map editor, and not having any help it's really hard.. I thank the forum for helping me with my smaller issues along the way.

Well, the whole reason i was creating this was so i could continue development. I was planning on adding new characters with new skills, and just a few more things to do. One of my idea's was a tournament system.

Thanks, i took a ball model from some map i saw awhile back, and managed to use it to my advantage.

Well, i attempted deprotecting ti, blabla, and even attempting to use winmpq after removing some security (Because they allow you to try) ... Couldn't get as much as a model from the map.

i forget which file it is, but there is a .mpq file that you can replace with a blank .txt file with the suffix changed to .mpq and the same name that causes map protection... but thats all ill say on the matter, as this site does not support map deprotection

There may be unprotected versions that are partially complete or templates outlining most of the abilities for the game etc

i tried, it doesn't matter. i rather do it on my own, there would be a bigger since of accomplishment behind it.
