hashtable, what is it?

Hi felas, I'm off from the mapmaking environment almost since the end of 2007.
It's almost two years!

I decided to make some triggers these days, for a simple melee map and I faced this "Hashtable".

I wonder if it has come with the last updates, cos I dont remember to have seen that before.

Sorry if the question sounds so novice, but... What is this hashtable and what is it for?

I'm not an english-spoken native, so I dont either know what is a hashtable.

hmmm think of it as a limitless chess board

EDIT: maybe not limitless i dont know that, but it is a 2 arrays system for anything
