Hey, i recently was asked by a friend to help him edit his map.
So he sent me his map and i opened it in editor, made the changes and saved it.

But then started the problems.

I was unable to create the game???

I went into LAN games-Create game-Create
Then it went back to the LAN game finder.

Have in mind the version that he sent me (that i diden't edit) works to create but as soon as i save it with my world editor it wont start.

Any1 got a clue what to do? pls help

Yes. It can be because the map is to big ( in kilobytes ). I think the limits of the map is around 5000-6500 KB (5-6.5 MB) If the map is to big, this actually happens. Try to avoid importing custom musics, like those who are like 3 minutes and is 3 MB big. That takes alot of memory in the map.
Hopes this works. Otherwise, my only idea of causing this is that either he, or you, have the latest version of the Warcraft 3 and the other one have an older. Or vise-versa.

Hmm okay, the map aint to big only around 800 KB, and i think we are both on the latest version.

Maybe because it was created using another version of warcraft and then we updated after is was made.

But that basically says that we are unable to edit the map at all?

Well, The map can be opened and edited by the editor if the map still is saved as a older version of WE (World Editor). But then when you save it again, it should match you'r warcraft 3 version, unless you haven't updated it before you tested the map. Could you send me the map. I could check if it works. You have my 100% word that i whont pusblish, edit or say that it's my map. You maybe just need to save it with the latest version of B.net. I have it. Try to update you wc3 throught bnet if you don't already have done it.

Here's my mail. [email protected]

Remember. You have my word.

Pretty sure he is using an older version of WE.

Happened to alot of old maps, infact nearly half the maps I had stopped working after one patch. No idea that caused this, but I'm sure someone on here does.

Either way maybe you could dig up something on google to check what caused these maps to stop working.

It was patch 1.24 btw.

Some quotes from it are "the changes that were made to warcraft 3 to fix some security issues with the game on battle.net"

Well i did also try to edit it with the WC3 patch 1.21 aswell and same problem there.

Well if this problem remains for some people. They should really visit b.net´s support forum.

EDIT: I can't either test the map. As where i see the problem, it is that the creator of the map have exceed the limit of Trees/Destructibles. 9061 placed Trees/Destructibles of 6144 allowed. The creator should remove some Trees/Destructibles.

No i couldn't. Check the EDIT in my recent post.
I think also that the creator of the map is using JNGP, or other inject softwares for World Editor. In that case, i can't test the map. As what i see. Theres alot of JASS work in only one trigger. He should also use more triggers instead of SICKNESS much of JASS code in one trigger. Cause i think that's above the limit but i dont know a shit about JASS so i can't tell ya.

hmm okay, im using JASS aswell, the map saves just as any other map so idk what the problem might be. Maybe i should wait for someone with more knowledge in JASS to reply ^^

Thanks anyway

The map doesn't save as it should. Delete the trigger that's includes all the JASS and then try to save. I think it's something in the code that makes the map to be able to save the map with more than the limit of Trees/Destructibles and when to test the map, the JASS code haven't been started yet because the JASS code starts when the Map starts. So then the WE whon't let the map start because it have overflooded limited number of Trees/Destructibles.

So what i think you should try to do is to either, remove some Trees/Destructibles or try to use JNGP for the map to see if it works with that.

aaha lol ive got a feeling this "map" is an unprotected map. i could be wrong but

What happens is when u unprotected the map with this specific tool "I'm not going to say what tool" it takes every trigger in the map converts it into 1 big jass trigger then when you try to save or edit the map it will either do the following

1) unable to compile and cause syntax errors

or

2) compile fine but unable to host on war3

like i said i could be wrong :D just seems like it!

Bottom Line. Even if 2 different warcraft 3 versions were the case it would tell you, "This map was saved with an older version" and you can save over it and fix the problem.

If he used any other tools new newgen, You can clearly tell.

the only other thing i can think of is this sounds allot like an unprotected map.

Haha now i see that to. It's an unprotected map. It is written in the top, unprotected with "#####"

##### = Name of the software ;)

lol yeh now i also see that xD

I asked him and he said he wanted to make some changes to this map and wanted my help.

But i guess it cant be done on an unprotected map?

Well that sucks ^^

I had a feeling it was unprotected:D Sorry. We don't support that here!

Thats the beuty of that tool. Unless you redo all the triggers and there could be errers in the acaul mpq files unless u fix all that yourself the tool is good to just learn from the map or look at sounds and custom models and icons

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
