Not to start an argument, but how do you know a tiger isnt afraid of loud noises? Besides the fact that I prolly would have leveled and fired also, without considering the consequences. I guess you really gotta place yourself in his position, thats a big cat, and I would assume despite the fact that everyone wants to assume they could stare it down, its frightening.

If you read stories from Vietnam or Korea or something, the cats were issues because they didn't just run off, they got scared or something and attacked. Obviously, getting shot takes it's toll so it ended up not being too big of an issue. But the people I know that told me stories said that they rarely just ran away, and they aren't like bears where they're giant beasts that clunk around. It's a cat, they can sneak up on stuff, you turn around and there's at tiger you're not going to try and scare it off if you have a gun.
