This is an announcement made by Vexorian in the World Editor Help forum about the new URL for the Map Optimizer

-----------------

Map optimizer 3.3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was forced to move the map optimizer to another thread.

http://www.wc3campaigns.com/thread_view.php?t=77401

Just a few words:
- The number of fixes on version 3.3 is huge it is a must have (As long as you already use the wc3 map optimizer)
- I got the able to beat EWEloader, that world editor hack will no longer bother us.
- BLP optimize may save you a lot of kilobytes if you have a lot of icons and skins in your map.

- You should update the map protection tutorial, first of all map protection does not exist, but even in the case it existed, Heavy Locker got discontinued (Black dick left blizzard game modding for legal issues) and it is too bugged, I don't know about extprotect, but at the moment the optimizer is the only tool that prevents the GUI reconstructors (Some people call them unprotectors) from working on your map.

Also the thread changed that's another reason to update the tutorial.

The tutorial should say something like DON't use password protect on extprotect! because wtg format has specifications it is incredibily easy to guess the password and "unprotect" the map.

Oh also, for mac users, tell them the truth, that they are screwed for the moment or that they should get a windows emulator, deleting wtg file doesn't really help.

-
Edit: I should really make a script optimizer for java, that would really help the mac fellows

Looks good

CoD unoptimized full version = 4211kb
CoD optimized with Optimizer 2.9 = 3363kb
CoD optimized with Optimizer 3.3 = 3267kb

Nothing wrong with regaining 96kb

I dont know what exactly happened, but i optomized my map with 3.3 and it messed up my map a little..

i have a shrine where you summon creeps, and a level 2 shrine you upgrade 2, and it made my level 2 shrine have the same creeps as level 1.

I checked in object editor, and shrine level 2 is still supposed to sell level 2 creeps, but all of the level 1 creeps were there in-game.

So when i optomize my map, it messes up my shrine. If i dont use the program my shrine runs fine. Its very wierd. I have attacthed a picture of the optomizer sshowing which settings i used.

You should always read license agreements, some of them say things like "I, by signing this agreement allow this program to steal my information (including email addresses and passwords) and pictures and send them to its server so the guys there are able to sell it"

anyways please send me your map. Try to do so quickly because I am about to leave the web in a few minutes and I was planning releasing new version tomorrow.

wow its like you want vex to hate you or something.....

guys if you have problems with vex's tool stuffing up your map, email him your map, don't waste everyone's time posting your problems here or on some other forum. I'm sure Vex has better things to do than chase you down for your map.

and like both Ryoko and Vex say, if the software comes with documentation, make sure you browse through the documentation so you understand what it contains.

We have to make sure to redirect anyone who comes to us saying 'All I did was download and install this program from this site and now I am bombarded with spam, my bank account is mysteriously empty, and I was stalked by two masked men yesterday. What did I do or not do?!'

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
