Doesn't the upgrade Vorpal Blades do exactly what you want? Use that if it does.

Actually Vorpal Blades does the same thing, it's just an upgrade to get spill damage.

Then I could do it by ordering the unit to attack a point in front of it offset by 10.00 when it starts to attack something and send a dummy unit as the projectile. It would just require a lot of tweaking to get the damage and the dummy travel at same speed.

Yep, that'd work. I tinkered a bit with the speed, and all my tests seem to point towards a speed of 500 for the spill damage. When adding expiring times to dummy units acting as spikes, it took 0.20 sec to go 100 (pixels?).
