Discussion New Bill in Congress

In government class.. (which i almost fell asleep in) the teacher told us about this new bill in Congress (which ive never heard of before, but then again, i never hear of bills in Congress) which has already been approved by the Senate and now has to go through the House . That pretty much is this

Its an anti-hate for gays bill. In other words

Pastors are not allowed to preach against homosexuality, and the government will have the right to arrest anyone preaching against it saying its a "hate" crime.

What do you think? I remember this being tacked on to a DEFENSE bill. Plus, i really dont want to have to go through more bills supporting gays, its bad enough that obama = "Im with you!..."

Yeah they're making it so that gays have better rights like minorities, so if you say something bad you're a hater and if you hit one it's a hate crime. I'm pretty sure gays and minorities can piss me off just as much as a white douche. I better go get a bunch of dem gays before it's more of a felony....

We have something similiar in the UK which is there to protect minorities. The problem is, it applies to any attack against a minority, regardless of whether or not there were any racial or anti-homosexual motives behind it. So if I attacked someone who was, say, insulting my family, and it turned out they were gay, then I would more than likely get charged with a hate crime of some sort. And it does not work both ways. If a White man attacked an Asian man with no racial motives, say for the example I used already, then it would get classed as a hate crime. If an Asian man attacked a White man, even if it turns out it was a raically motivated attack, they will probably still not bring that into account.

It's not being explicit about it, but the general message we get is that. In fact the general message for anyone who was born and bred in the UK is the same - we don't give a shit about you, you didn't even vote us in and now we're going to surrender all of our power over to Brussels before the next election so that the next government spends its entire term in office sorting it out and then you vote for us again because they couldn't change it.

Essentially they treat us like shit and spend more money than is strictly necessary spying on us. I *could* go on but for the sake of time and energy I shall refrain from going into full ranty mode.

That's not the point. The point is, I can't say anything bad about anyone different from me, and God forbid I get in a fight with one of them, but they can do whatever the hell they want to me.

Well. i found out today. that when i had posted that yesterday. it passed the house the same day T_T. America is screwed. Anyway. Obama supposedly signed it at about 2 PM EST.

My teacher was worried less about us, but was more worried about our children. He said he could be wrong however. The bill isnt HUGE, but it is a doorway to many more gay rights bills

I have the rights to tell off anyone I dislike. Color, religion, culture, political views, or sexual orientation does not matter.

Coming up next: Gays are no longer allowed to be tried as the jury may prosecute them out of prejudice. Also, they are given exclusive rights to a 2 billion dollar stimulus package as it is harder for them to find work in this economy due to prejudices.

I find if bad that the are restricting peoples freedom of speech, however it may be worth it in the long run.

Untrue. Imprisoning criminals benefits society at the cost of individual suffering. There are other examples as well.

I'm pretty socially liberal when it comes to non-life related issues, but even I can acknowledge the falsehood of that statement.

Though I agree that this bill is tripe.
