OSLO, Norway — Norway’s foreign minister says the Scandinavian country will back Palestinian officials in their appeal to the U.N. for statehood.

In a Facebook post late Saturday, Jonas Gahr Stoere wrote “Palestinians have the right to go to the U.N.” and Norway is “ready to recognize a Palestinian state.”

He also urged for talks to start between Israel and Palestinians, saying “only negotiations can solve things between Israel and Palestinians.”

Frustrated by their inability to win concessions from Israel, the Palestinians have tried to gain attention with a high stakes wager on statehood and U.N. membership.

I'm pretty sure this will do nothing about the "israeli-palestine" conflicts we've been hearing about.
more frankly.
Fuck gaza.
nn for explaining.

Why bother? They're just going to continue to fight until one of them is dead. And then some other group is going to pop up and say they want it.

A bunch of people from Webmaster Help Zone are exiled, so they go to WEHZ. Because they were originally from WEHZ before they moved to WHZ, they claim that WEHZ is still theirs, even though moderatorship was transferred from the old mods of WEHZ to the incumbent ones. The rest of TheHelper recognizes the WHZ refugees as victims, even though they use terror tactics on WEHZ to try to gain power and influence. Meanwhile, The Writer's Corner decides that it is ready to recognize WHZ needs its own forum.

The problem lies with Jerusalem, and mainly the temple mount. Arabs are destroying proof of any jewish temple ever in existance there, while they built their own mosque on it a long while ago, because it is said Muhammad ascended into heaven from that place. The Israelians also claim it as a holy place.

Now don't say religion is the problem here, because religion is merely a political tool here. It's a bit like the two kids who have been hating each other for years but forgot how it ever started.

Nope, the writer's Corner decides that it is ready to recognize WEHZ needs its own forum!

Indeed, the Western Wall that supported the Beit Hamiqdash terrace is the second holiest place in the world for Jews (the first being the foundation stone).

This sounds like a gross exaggeration.

while they built their own mosque on it a long while ago, because it is said Muhammad ascended into heaven from that place.
This is obviously a legitimate reason, as the Dome of the Rock is a very important place for followers of Islam.

The Israelians also claim it as a holy place.
Israelians

See but the problem with this, is that it is just wrong. I don't want Israel because I'm politically against Islamic extremists, I want it because I want the right to visit the Stone/Wall.

It's a bit like the two kids who have been hating each other for years but forgot how it ever started.
Or it's like 2 kids having something they both want and fighting over it.

This most definitely shouldn't happen. They refuse to recognise Israel as a nation, they demand back the land Israel won after the 6 day war which was started by the Palestinians, they demand the capital of Jerusalem be given to them and since that didn't work now they want half and for that half to be "jew free". They demanded Israel withdraw from Gaza and they got that, no peace though. And the way they treat the jewish people and the wailing wall, etc., is horrible. (I could go on, and on.) It's just ridiculous, they just need to leave Israel alone and stop terrorising and attacking them.

This is really just about getting one step closer to destroying Israel for them. This has even been admitted by several leaders of terrorist organisations and perhaps if my memory serves correctly also president/leaders of some countries surrounding them.

You don't give terrorist nations statehood, or power for that matter. Obama needs to strongly support Israel and to protect and take stronger actions against preventing terrorist attacks against them. They're allies of the US for goodness sakes.
This is obviously a legitimate reason, as the Dome of the Rock is a very important place for followers of Islam.
I'd argue otherwise to be honest. I saw a documentary/video on it once, showing muslim kids using the grounds to play soccer, and showing their own people having riots and vandalising the place. They don't treat it like it's important.

Politically, protecting Israel from the United States' standpoint is very logical. Despite Israel being a small fraction of the world, it still counts as a UN vote, and Israel/US agree eye to eye on many issues, so that's a vote in our favor in many places. Also, Israel is a point of democracy in the Middle East which acts as a proxy United States in some ways. However, terror in Israel is very hard to stop.

Anybody I speak to who has gone to Israel says they feel very safe. For Christ's sake, even becoming a bus driver generally requires some training in fighting terror, yet accidents happen. You have to understand the desperation that Palestinian's feel if they are willing to kill themselves to get rid of Israelis in the process. As an Israeli by birth (but not citizenship), I find it very disturbing.

As for the issue of the Dome of the Rock, I find it very interesting that you'd argue against an element of what is important to the Muslims. It is the place where their most important prophet went to visit Hashem, and so it makes sense to build a holy mosque there. I respect that the Muslims want to use it, but as a Jew I find it important to have access to the Foundation Stone, as it is a place like a holy connection between the world and Heaven.

As for the Palestinian state, sure, I don't really mind. Just don't leave a terrorist organization (1) running it.

The Palestinians acquiring statehood is really only going to give them more power which is going to get used to further attack Israel. It might be hard to stop them from attacking Israel, but it isn't impossible if everyone else gets on board. The reason these Palestinian terrorists are willing to kill themselves to get rid of Israelis isn't because of desperation but because they just want them dead -- they want a world without the jews, and they believe they will be rewarded for it.

They might say it's important to them, but personally... I don't believe it. Actions speak louder than words, and their actions cause me to think it isn't that important to them.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
