Where there is no more room in hell, the dead shall walk the Earth...

Introduction

The Land of the Dead takes place in the forests of Karth. 25 years after a deadly virus spread throughout the Human Lands, destroying all civilisations in its path. With only a few safe havens left in the lands, the Humans have bound together to survive the mindless zombies that wander the deep forests of Karth. In this dynamic 10 player Open World RPG, you choose what you want to do, who you shall be and whether or not you shall help your side, whether that be the Undead horde or the Human survivors, dominate the forests of Karth. Both sides have a Main Quest which can be followed together, and a huge array of small jobs and mini quests which can be completed to earn you gold, and aid your empire.

The Mindless Undead

Introduction

The virus spread quickly throughout the cramped human empire. Past on through bodily fluids, the virus altered the genetic code of its host, making them more aggressive and blood thirsty until the host died from suicide. It would then send an electrical jolt to the brain, reanimating it's core features. Devoid of emotions and thought, the Undead wander aimlessly searching for their next meal of flesh and brains.

However, the humans have joined together and a direct assault would be impossible as their is no leadership among the Undead. The concept of a Hive Mind is possible, and although it may take time, a sole Hive Queen of King may be implemented to unit the Undead and destroy the last Human City.

Resources

The Undead Horde use Human Flesh and Brains to fuel their armies. The collection of these materials should be left down to the Players, who then contribute them to the Undead Hive Mind, if created. This will allow the production of more Undead creatures and abominations, and also the ability to improve the Genetic altering of the virus to increase speed, armour and even unlock the forgotten power of magic.

PVP/PVE Fighting Tactics

The Human Survivors have guns. Lots of guns, however you can use this to your advantage. Because of their wide array of guns, they have invested in fire power instead of defence. The undead deal a lot of melee damage, and as the entire map is pretty much a forest, you can ambush them and stay out of the line of view, getting close easily and quickly however you must watch out as the military units carry flares which will allow them to detect you.

The war machines, which are hard to create but are very powerful, should be left to the stronger zombies who can take a lot of bullets before dying as the war machine will take a long time to be destroyed. Whilst keeping an eye out for Peacekeepers, the Human's only melee unit. They can take a lot of damage and deal a lot of meele damage too, however they are expensive to create so don't expect too many of them.

As a Virus carrier, you have the ability during the game to change your genetics in your chosen way to suit your playing style. You can become fast and stealthy, slow and strong or mystical. You can also delve into more then one style, being strong and fast (you won't be as fast or as strong if you choose just one spec).

The Human Survivors

It's been 25 years since virus crept into existence, and it's been 25 years of blood shed and tears. A vaccine was created for the virus, but it was too late as the majority of the population had already succumbed to the infection. Those who were clean were herded into small enclosed areas where they were leaded by the Military Forces, who had already received the vaccine before they were sent to cull the infected. One by one however, they were destroyed by the sheer mass of the Undead bodies that wandered the deep forests of Karth until only one main city and a small number of outposts survived. Unable to produce any more of the vaccine, the majority of the survivors can still fall ill to the virus which lies inside each and everyone of the Undead.

The only hope for the Humans is if they can restore a hierarchy and instil a King to command the forces and restore the broken Radar station on the other side of the Lake. With this, the King shall be able to communicated directly and unite all the scattered forces and finally wipe out the Undead horde that wanders the forests.

Resources

The humans need food to support their empire, and because of this Hunters, Fishermen and Scavengers are paid highly as it is a dangerous job. Contributing scavenged supplies, meat and fish to the empire will increase the King's gold and allow him to produce more infantry to cull the undead and reinforce the Cities defences. The land is filled with timber, which can be harvested by Wood Cutters for lumber which can be contributed to the City for the King to be able to build war machines, however the Forest is filled with Undead who lurk in the shadows, and so it is encouraged you have hired guards with you.

PVP/PVE Fighting Tactics

The humans rely on Guns, with only one meele unit (Peacekeeper). The Undead are fast and deal a lot of damage if they reach you, so because of this, and the lack of body armor, the Humans use rapid firing guns to destroy the Undead horde. The Humans biggest weakness however is the forests, for vision is limited and the Undead can ambush you easily. Because of this, Wood cutters are in great demand for destroying the forests and clearing a large open space for long-ranged firing.

Enemy Undead Players can be skimmed down into three classes, although they may have aspects from more then 1 class. The 3 classes are: Fast and Stealthy, Slow and Strong or Mystical.

The Fast and Stealthy are the most dangerous as they can reach you in no time at all, and will ambush you in the forests. Every soldier is given flares which light up the forest and will show the Undead.

The Slow and Strong are... well... slow and strong. They will eat a lot of your bullets but more at a very slow rate. Don't let them get near you or they will kill you in 1-3 hits. Just keep firing at them until they are down, but be warned. They may explode and spawn a lot of smaller, faster zombies to attack you.

The Mystical Zombies are the most powerful, the the rarest as they have such high requirements to become. They will use the Virus to infect their enemies, causing them to loose control and attack their allies. They can summon undead out of the gorund and resurrect the recently dead to fight for them. Be warned, they should be shot down as soon as possible.

Note

I would love ideas of Jobs for both sides, such as a fisherman, hunter etc etc. Feedback for what you've read so far is brilliant and well needed, plus any ideas you can come up with as well :) +rep if you do!

I will update this thread as jobs are created!

The idea is interesting, but this concept has been used many times before, so it's going to be more challenging to make this unique and different from other similar maps.

Job Idea: Scout. Can learn to Dig and Climb Trees.
Digging prevents you from being seen and lets you see other Digging units in a small area, but you can't see anything else. Gives opportunities to ambush your enemies (Undead or Human).
Tree Climbing gives extended line of sight, but you take time to climb up and down, making you vulnerable.

Research idea: Resistance.
Gives Humans a chance to resist the Zombie virus.

Weapon Upgrade/Research: Gunpowder Spray.
Shots will spray gunpowder to the area around the target and units around it. Units that walk into an area with gunpowder receive the Gunpowder buff, as do units around the target at the time of the spray. When a unit with the Gunpowder buff is shot, the powder explodes, dealing small damage in an area around it (including itself).

Job Idea: Corpse Collector. Can Collect Corpses and carry minor weapons and bombs.
Collects corpses on the battlefield, human or zombie, to prevent them from being reanimated. If carried for too long without being put down, corpses will begin to deal minor damage over time to the Corpse Collector.

Research Idea: Scientific Institutions
Allows for research using Collected Corpses, in order to find a temporary cure for the zombie virus (eventually there will be new virus strains, so it will only work for a short while). The more corpses there are, the faster a new cure may be discovered.

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
