CHECK MY THIRD POST IN THIS THREAD!

So, I've bought a new processor, it is Intel Celeron e3400 2x 2.6ghz wolfdale which costed me pretty much (since I'm slim on my budget at the moment).

So, it is a 775 socket, which accordingly should fit into my motherboard, but, for some reason, it doesn't.

So, basically, I remove the fan, take off the current processor which is Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @1.60ghz (2 CPU's) and put the new one.

The problem is, when turning on the PC it doesn't reproduce the squeek sound when you turn the computer on, so it just stays idle, doing nothing (can't access anything).

My motherboard is Asus P5VD2-VM and I have 400 w power supply. I tried removing my Graphic card (which is GT 430) and still nothing.

EDIT: Tried to update my Bios to latest version, still nothing.

Any help is appreciated. I'll reply to this message ASAP cause I have nothing to do today (day off).

About the processor not fitting in to the motherboard: Make sure you put the processor in the correct way. Normally on the processor there will be a little corner missing or a dot to represent which way it goes in. Press down hard on the tab to lock it in place, apply the thermal paste and install the heat sink. If done correctly it should work.

If you did those steps correctly it should work. If it doesn't work I'd recommend a CMOS reset.

1. Turn off the system.
2. Ground yourself.
3. On the motherboard you'll see a silver battery. Remove it for 10-20 minutes.
4. Place the battery back in the slot.
5. Plug everything in and turn on the machine.
6. Should work.

Reply back if it doesn't work.

Since I was so stubborn to get that new processor, guess I have no choice than to buy a new motherboard, which will cost me cheaper than re-selling my new processor (cannot refund it, asked them twice already).

I really need your help guys over here, and I'll list every possible information you'll need.

For now I'm searching motherboards for my pc, and I found few of these, can you tell me are they good? I mean, I'm not really an expert when it comes to hardware, but I'll provide information from my current motherboard so that everything is identical to the new one (like ports, etc). Cause I don't want any trouble when it comes to this part, I already freaked out when I wasted all my money on this CPU!

So, list of some motherboards I've found:

G31M-GS R2.0

G31M-S R2.0
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=G31M-S R2.0

G41M-VS2
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=G41M-VS2

P5QPL-AM
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5QPLAM/#specifications

They are all socket 775 (afaik). Now, my question is:

1) Will they run perfectly fine with CPU Intel Celeron E3400 Box, Socket 775?
2) How can I know if any of these MOBos can fit in my pc?
3) Do these motherboards have same numbers of ports just like my old one?

In case you want to know about my current motherboard, here are some info from aida64:

I need to know what computer case you have and a list of every computer component you have inside it. Also what peripherals you have (USB wireless stick, mouse, keyboard, etc).

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though

Heard Houston got hit pretty bad by storms last night. Hope all is well with TH.
