Description: Since the Burning Legion took control of Azeroth they had enslaved, enlisted, and mutilated most of Azeroth's inhabitants, including the last of the brutal orcs. But few still remain. The determined Humans, wise Elves and mighty Dwarves prepare for their Last Stand against the onslaught of the Legion. Though the wise among them know that defeat is inevitable, they still won't give up without a fight. And who knows? They may be quite a nuisance to the Legion....

So the idea is you have this big wall with a rail on top and a huge cannon that slides left and right with the arrow keys. You have to defend against the legions waves of attacks. They can send anything against you...even bunnies that have been corrupted. This map isn't on a real serious tone, its just meant to be a fun defence game.

You get all these things that can purchase and abilitys for the cannon. Like repair, reinforcement ground troops, weapon upgrades. Armor upgrades for the wall, ect.

The jewel of the game is the cannon of course. I'm a good modeller so I can make the cannon model. Its gonna be a dwarvish type supream invention, same style as the steam engine and the gyro copters. I can trigger GUI decently, but when it comes to the more advanced triggers I will need help for sure.

So before I begin to model this thing I need to be sure how its going to work.
I need suggestions on how to make it shoot all different kinds of projectiles.
I'm thinking..

Fast attack: Machine guns
Medium attack: Motar missiles
Super attack: Mages beam

for the super attack it takes a long time to charge 5-8 seconds. I want to know if its possible to make it have more attacks than just three and how.


Suggestions and help wanted.

Sounds cool. I look forward to screenshots and a completed map.

Suggestions:
--Either make the game short or add other components. Playing a 30 wave defense with this could get boring, if there wasn't something else to do. Maybe the cannon could be a hero and have different awesome abilities.
--Make the terrain very appealing to the eye, this makes games like this so much more appealing.

Oh, I see. I was thinking of it in a more linear way. This could be very cool indeed. Is it going to be reminiscent of an FPS? If so, you should put small crosshairs in the middle of the screen.

Yes it will be on a sort of semi circle track. crosshairs would be nice, I agree. Not sure about the technicals of how its going to aim yet. I would like left and right movement with the rails. And up and down movement of the cannon barrel.

after each round it will stop and allow you to shop and upgrade and stuff. with infinite time so your not rushed into buying stuff without reading what it does.

How would you like it to aim? You think having to click on enemys with the mouse and move it left and right with arrow keys?

So I thought about how its layed out a bit more. I'd rather have the track on the ground so when you slide left and right you can run over somebody if they're on the track. If they make it past the tracks then they go beat on the castle. Then the only thing to stop them is the castle defences. When the castle is dead you lose. Or if your cannon blows up. (I'll make some enemies go for the cannon) Your ground troops that you purchase come from the gates on the left and right of the battlefeild.

OR maybe have the cannon atop the wall and a steep slope that goes down to the castle wall base, once the enemies make it in the trench you are no longer able to attack them.

Seems interesting :). I might be able to help in triggering some of the cannon movements and attack. But no immediate result promises depending on how busy I am. (Or do you need any help at all?).

So when they make it into the steep slope and they beat down the castle doors, then they can walk up the steps and start to wail on your cannon. The reason for the slope? Well lets just say its a moat and that can be one of your moves, to flood the moat.


Yea, sorry for all the posting, im trying to get a solid plan. This idea better than the rest? I'm liking it.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
