how do you make a the pylon power field give an added attack speed to a certain type of unit. such as psionic or hover..

and on another note how do you make creep do damage to a certain type of unit such as biological or mechanical.


i may need a graphic since i have asked this before already... so could you show me how to do it? and then show me every step thats required i guess... if needed. this has given me a big headache since im trying to do it with data.

I would give the pylon a separate behaviour which periodically executes a Search Area effect (at about every 0.5 seconds). Then set the Search Area effect to apply a behaviour with an attack speed bonus which only lasts 0.6 seconds (the unit will be given the buff again if it still in range of the pylon). If you set the range of the search area effect to be the same as the pylon power field then it will appear the power field grants the buff. You can also edit the target properties of the search area effect to only give the buff to certain types of units.

and on another note how do you make creep do damage to a certain type of unit such as biological or mechanical.
The only way I can think of doing this is to give every unit a behaviour which deals damage over time to them and give the behaviour a validator so that it must be on creep to be active.

Pylon Attack-Speed Buff Tutorial

First off, check to make sure that you have the same option buttons pushed at I do.

Pylon Buff Behavior

The first thing that we are going to do is make the buff that gives the units increased attack-speed. Create a behavior with Behavior Type: Buff.

Next, right-click the Behavior Modification field and select Modify Value.

When the pop-up menu appears, click on the Combat tab at the top, and modify the Attack Speed Multiplier field to a number higher than 1 (you can use decimals). I set it to 2 for double the attack speed.

Now, edit the Stats: Duration, Stats: Duration Bonus Minimum, and Stats: Duration Bonus Maximum fields to 0.6.

We are done with this behavior.

Pylon Unit Buff Effect

Move to the Effects tab so we can make an effect that applies that behavior to the units within range. Create an Effect with Effect Type: Apply Behavior.

Edit the Behavior: Behavior field to be the behavior that we just made. In my case, Pylon Buff.

We are done wit that effect, so lets move onto the next one. This effect will target all the units in range, and apply the effect to them.

Pylon Buff Search Effect

Make an effect with Effect Type: Search Area.

Right-click the Search: Areas field and select Modify Value.

Click the green X to the right of the white box to create a new value. Set the Effect field to the effect that we just created. In my case, Pylon Unit Buff. Next, set the Maximum Count to -1 (infinity). Lastly, set the Radius to 6.5 because that is the radius of the Pylon Power Field. Click OK to exit the menu.

Now, modify the Search: Exclude field. Create a new value, and set the Value to Outer. Click Okay.

Now, Modify the Search: Search Filters Field to look like mine (if you want it to only apply to Psionic units).

We are done with this effect. So, we will move on to the last behavior.

Pylon Search Apply Behavior
This behavior will activate the Search Effect every 0.5 seconds because the buff only lasts 0.6 seconds.
Create a new behavior with Behavior Type: Buff.

Modify the Effect: Effect - Periodic field to be the Search Effect that we just created. In my case, Pylon Buff Search. Also, set the Stats: Maximum Count to -1 and the Stats: Period field to 0.5.

We are done with this behavior and now, we just have to apply it to the Pylon.

Go to the Units tab and select the Pylon. Right-click the Behavior: Behaviors field and select Modify Value. Add a value and set Behavior to The Search Application Behavior we just completed. In my case, Pylon Search Apply.

that was helpful i finally got pylon done. it took a while but it works. i never would of figured it probably without knowing that you need a search effect. anyways thanks :D btw let me know when you get creep up.

Do you want the damage to be applied to certain units or to all units because I can make a tutorial in the data editor, but you'd have to add a behavior to every unit that you want to be damaged (when on creep). OR I can try harder to find a way to do it with triggers, which would apply to all units (of a certain type if you want).

i want it to do damage to be applied to all units of a certain type that are biological. but this would also include mechanical units with other units loaded in them. you see im gonna have Goliath be a unit that only one biological unit can be in.

Well, first off It is almost impossible to do damage to biological units inside of a mechanical unit AND I don't think that that is realistic because they are not touching the creep. However, I don't wanna tell you how to make your map. Now, would you rather have the tutorial today or tomorrow (data editor)and have it be tedious to apply to your map (you have to apply a behavior to every unit that you want to get hurt (If I can't find a way to automatically do it)) OR I can try to figure out how to do it with triggers which might take a while. Either way it might involve some triggering.

well i guess then its more complicated then i thought applying it properly. maybe its something i should have my triggerer do. reason being as much as you are better at editor then me i know it has worked before. cause i played the map parasite. and thats something that stepping on creep with a goliath mech had happen thus put... it is possible just probably not doable with data... sadly... but its ok i have a different issue which could probably be solved more easily... hang on while i load it. i want to make two stimpacks which when both used on the same unit can cause the unit to recieve damage and a boost behavior. yes i already tried this and it didnt work... completely... the 3rd part to it always failed.. the boost apply behavior ability. which gave the final behavior which incinerates 75% of the units life but also boosts its speed and attack speed. anyways... that's my new problem can you help me with it?
btw with triggers/scripting im sure it is possible. but i dont know how like i said i played the map parasite and when it stopped working and was no longer getting the attention it deserved i decided to start my own ver. anyways not to sound annoying but if you could also figure out how to do that with triggers... it would be helpful i might be able to patch it to me so i can get it to my buddy that woudl be helpful however one at a time if you still have interest. oh i almost forgot creep has touch mech for the bio damage to happen to bioligical unit inside mech that touches creep... (GOLIATH)

I just wanted to add that you can damage a unit inside a transport. To refer to a unit inside a transport, use the "Cargo units in transport" function to get a unit group containing all units carried by a transport unit.

ok fine... 1: i need a way so that when to abilities are applied on one unit and only one unit it applies a special behavior while the abilities are on.
2: how would i go about making when biological units step on creep... including mechanical units with bio units loaded in mech... take damage every time they step on creep. like 1 damage per 2 seconds or 3 seconds...
2 you need to use triggers... 1 is better with non triggers.

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
