Starting an RPG
Rpgs are Roleplaying games, games which include strategy and quests to do and most often a basic storyline that involves killing an enemy. This is a tutorial to make an RPG. An rpg is broken up into little pieces.. Such as you will require...

Terrain
Quests
Heroes
Enemies
Storyline (optional)
Items
..etc

Out of all the games created in Warcraft III, Rpgs are the least created. Mostly because they take time and effort to create. Sometimes you can get an rpg that is very balanced, but poorly done. The best thing you can possibly do is make an rpg that is very balanced and done well. These make your hits go up. Rpgs such as, Defi4nc3's ORPG or COT ORPG are popular because they are made to be fun, like Defi4nc3's ORPG has a special system which involves you going into dungeons and killing monsters for good loot. COT ORPG involves you just doing quests and killing everything in sight to become the strongest on BattleNet. You can make your own RPG However you want. Heres a basic idea on how to do an rpg...

Hit and Run RPG (Basically Killing Monsters and a Few Quests)
Skilled RPG (A list of skills and monsters to kill such as Blacksmithing etc...)
Item RPG (A basic rpg meant for item hunting)
Adventure RPG (An rpg with a very detailed world and storyline)

Most rpgs go in the areas of Item RPG and Hit and Run RPG because of their simplicity. But before I get too detailed lets move on to the next chapter.

Storylines
Storylines are mostly what keeps an RPG going, if there is a good storyline possibly people will play it, most of the time its a story about killing an evil god or a giant demon. But what keeps a real rpg with a storyline going is a complex storyline, where the story changes dramatically, instead of making it like 'You must kill the Demon Lord' maybe make it 'You must go through the land and kill the Demon Lord', These are just one line sentences though, maybe you can do this, 'You must kill the Demon Lord, but on the way throughout the lands a drunk dwarf stops you on the way.' As you take one sentence, it will get more in depth as you add more, thus making a more detailed storyline.

Quests
Quests are what put excitement in an RPG most of the time, sometimes quests involve killing a certain amount of monsters or just killing a monster and claiming a certain amount of an item. But like most RPGs, quests require 'VARIABLES', variables store data which can be used for later on.

Such as:
This is just a basic preview
'VARIABLE INTEGER' [monster_kills]
ACTIVATION
Code:
Events
Comes within 256.00 range to 'unit'
Conditions
((Triggering Unit) equal to Hero) equal to True)
Actions
Game - Text : Help! Some monsters in this area have taken over, and i need you to kill 5 of them!
Turn on 'monster kills'
Turn off 'this trigger'
MONSTER KILLS
Code:
Events
Unit - A unit Dies
Conditions
(Dying Unit) equal to type 'unit'
Actions
If/Then/Else Functions
If Conditions
 Integer less then 5
Then Actions
Set 'variable' to (variable +1)
Else
Do Nothing

As you go on, you will go more in depth with quests. The above is just a basic quest involving killing a certain unit. Even though its not an accurate code, its at least an IDEA.

Landscaping
Wow! You actually read this far? Well this is on 'terraining' for an rpg. Most of the time an rpg will have a few towns in a distance. Also a good idea on terraining for an rpg is possibly set up a few grids then terrain inside of them to make it look more detailed in a certain area. Then you can take off the grid walls (most often cliff tiles) and make it merge with the other grid near it.

A good idea for terraining is keeping it simple sometimes at the start, then when you get the game going, you can then terrain it to look really nice!! Sometimes terraining takes time but if you really know how to terrain it should be a piece of cake. Most Rpgs use the tileset below:

Lordaeron Summer

Why Lordaeron Summer? Because it is a basic tileset and looks decent. But most of the time RPGs use a 'CUSTOM' tileset, where you can put a few more tiles on the map than normal. But since you can only add about 2 more tiles, think about getting WEU (World Editor Unlimited). It allows you to add more tiles than the normal world editor. And its pretty useful in ways.

Hero Creation
Heroes can sometimes be hard to create. Like if you want the basic hero classes like Warrior, Ranger, Mage you can do that. But alot more rpgs go with their own ideas. Like lets say your a warrior...

You have [Charge] [Bash] [Critical Strike] [Avatar]

Mostly these skills build a warrior who can tank etc... But thats a basic hero.

As you get deeper into hero creation you will make heroes like

MAGE
[Lightning Blast .: Deals x3 Intelligence :.] [Firebolt .: Deals 125 Damage and Stuns Enemy]

These are just basic skills, maybe you should look at a hero creation tutorial for more information though.

Finishing
Once your finishing your RPG mostly what you should do is find bugs and fix them, balance out abilities, balance items, make the terrain look nice... etc..

Fix Leaks and crap.

But the most important thing about finishing your map is to make sure everything is in place and you can do the maximum amount of stuff as you should have been able to as you said. Then your done.

Suggested Ideas
I have made a list of suggested ideas for your RPG that you may find useful later on.

LIST OF SUGGESTED IDEAS:

Spellbooks [These save slots in your main spellbook]
Save/Load [This will save / load your game as a code to take ur character later on.]
Custom Icons & Models [This adds more detail to your game, alot of people like models and icons]
xAttribute Skills [Say you cast a spell, maybe you want it to damage x6 your strength or agility?]

Thanks for reading guys...

This took awhile to do but i guess its okay... and decent..

[++ Rep Appreciated but I dont need it]

On that subject, this is such a tiny, tiny tutorial, but I'm sure somebody will find it helpful.

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
