I'm not sure if this is the right place but...

I can't seem to host. The main problem that's in my way is finding out my ipv4 and my gateway. When I type 'ipconfig' into command prompt I just get things like this:

http://img23.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cmdglitchjm8.jpg

As you can see, that is completely unrelated to my ipv4 and gateway.

I am operating Vista and using a wireless network with my Dell XPS laptop.

Can anyone help me?

Weird. Never seen such a thing in ipconfig.
There's programs out there where you can get your local ip address though just look for them on Google.

scroll to the top ?!...
..
that looks really fucked up ...looks like you got hundreds of (virtual) network adapters..
..
otherwise you could just right click on the connection icon in the tray bar ... > status... then switch to support page, your ip address is shown there

There is SO many of them, even when I scroll to the top it gives me the #14 one. No ipv4 or gateway.

Also I did not see a status button when I right clicked it. I saw:

Disconnect from...
Connect to a network
Turn on activity animation
Turn off notification of new networks
Diagnose and Repair
Network and Sharing center

if youre using a router, forward these ports:

TCP 6112-6119
UDP 6112-6119

I'm not sure how to do all of this, but don't I need to have my gateway to do that? And then enter the gateway into like Internet Explorer, enter the passwords, and then forward those ports?

I thought I need my ipv4 and gateway, not my ip address. I can find my ip out easy by just typing "my ip address" into google. Doesn't seem to be the same case for my ipv4 and gateway.

I even tried setting it to 10 and it wasn't shrinking or anything.

And yes I hit okay after entering those settings :p

Okay... I entered the "2" without the quotes and it brought me a screen that said:

X to Quit
Anything not X to resume
Type the number to perform that option_

What am I supposed to type for type the number to perform that option?

Reinstall network devices?
Disable network devices?
Delete all tunnels?
Disable ipv6? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852
Cant find your Ipv4? http://whatsmyip.org/

Why check in the command prompt anyways? Thats windows 95... There is "a" user interface now, for most things.

Log on to your router/modem, all computers IP's connected to it, is listed there somewhere, should be.

I thought I need my gateway too? I've got my IP now, thanks, but now how do I get my gateway?

I'm not really sure what to do after I get my gateway. Enter the gateway into internet explorer and then open the ports from there some how?

Gateway, most cases, your ip address, except the last number is 1.
Example:
Your IP: 112.122.122.123
Gateway: 112.122.122.1

But in some other cases they end with the magic number 138.

You do not even know that one to begin with? Ask your dad? Brother? Someone knows it, im sure of it. Else a short google search would have done it, searching for what? Ehm, router name/model.

The router name is Westell, and the model number is 327W. Where do I go from here? And what do I do with my gateway now that I supposedly know it.
