About your mount system, I think the hardest part is the animation, the other can be done, throught,

Then just remove the lightning effect from the Life Drain ability and use a trigger
Lightning Effect - Create a lightning between caster and taget unot of ability
Be sure to store it on a avriable
And when the ability finishes
Lightning Effect - Remove Lightning effect
Create a dummy ability for the caster unit. Then create a dummy unit and a Life Drain ability. When the caster cast the dummy ability on a unit, create a dummy and order it to cast Life Drain.

This would work only for a specific unit-type, he want it to work for any Hero-type. Go to conditions and look for boolean conditions :
Entering unit is a Hero equal to true
