Currently, our mods are playing "I see something you don't".
Sooner or later, they might actually come to some kind of decision.
Let's hope it will be soon.
As in, real soon.
Preferably right after reading this!

"Obsolete"? There's a link to the left... pointing nowhere.

Yes! The decision is reached. And it is this:

The Index (new or otherwise) is completely obsolete. Since the Tutorial section was recently (loose term) re-organized, there is no more need for an index. There is a whole forum for approved tutorials, and a whole forum for unapproved tutorials, and a whole forum for dead tutorials. There is also the index on the WET site, which should be good enough.

That is when an admin comes in handy :p

The index doesn't exist anymore. The WET site already lists the approved tutorials, and that's it. Unapproved tutorials are either in the Graveyard, or in the submission forum, which should, in a near future, be clean :)

It is not obsolete. The reason people use the index is because it makes it easier to find the tutorial you want. Plus their is a forum for approved and a graveyard not one for unapproved tutorials. In the graveyard you have system and spells mixed in to the forum making it harder to look at the tutorials. Not only that in the index you have organization like if you were trying to find a JASS tutorial it would all be in the same spot. You also have to realize people don't look at the sub-forums as much as the main forum. Those were the reason why the The index reached the 5th highest views on WEH Zone with 15,000+ views. I suggest keeping the index.

If we counted the views for "User-submitted" on the WET site it would certainly be higher.

Why divide those views in 2?

We had 2 indexes, now we have one. Plus, the sidebar will have a link to the WET site's index instead.

Unapproved tutorials shouldn't be "recommend" in an index. If they're worthy, then they should also be worthy of approval, no?

Well, they weren't so: No more index for these.

> So does that mean that all unapproved Indexed threads were sent to the graveyard?

Maybe. Or not. If they are still somewhat recent in replies.

I believe the cut-off was 3 months from the original post date AND one month from the most recent post.

Oh... Damn. >.<'

No wonder why my Cinematics tutorial is buried in there. I will soon get a shovel though and get a paladin to dig it out and use the Paladin to ressurect it. Such a sad story... :(

The resources in The Graveyard aren't lost forever. If you feel it is good once again and meets the standards, update it!

Yea, I'm editing it with pictures. I recently figured out that tons of people are attracted to that... :D

I just need to add the pictures, a test map, and have some admin/mod add the suffix "(With Pixures!!! ZOMGTISRULZ!)".

:p

I think the index was a good idea because it was easier to find things
But sadly I don't need the Index anymore because WC CD screwed up :Sob:

So does that mean that all unapproved Indexed threads were sent to the graveyard?

Well now something to do in my spare time but...

You mods sound like politics... Anyway I just think it should be a good idea to keep the Index but it seem like Majority vote (of Mods) ^^

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net
  • Monovertex Monovertex:
Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
  • The Helper The Helper:
You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
