hmmm, dont clans usualy look for experienced players?
If i were you, I'd download DotA Al (the one where computers can acouly play) and try walking around, killing computers, trying out items etc.

When you get the hang of it (or already have the hang of it, its quite easy, you can also immediatly start on the internet) try joining some DotA for noob games on battlenet.
