linked maps/multiplayer campaigns?

Can someone eh help me out on understanding what they mean?

In Warcraft III there were campaigns with other maps linked to make up a larger map. So, I'm guessing this is what they mean. It sounds neat.

does linked maps just load a new map? or can you keep some of the varibles from the first map.

Example.

I am level 4 hero, i go in cave...it loads my cave map. Am i still level 4?

In Warcraft III you save your hero to a cach and load it into a new map. I'm not sure how Blizzard is going to make linked maps mulitplayible (I made up a new word).

Maybe you'll be able to pass variables and stuff to the other map without saving it in a cache. It would maybe be in the form of arguments:

Example: Load Map2lol(*Insert heroes here*, *Insert variables here*, ...)

i think they should make a built in not active save system so if you make an rpg you jsut set the system on and u can do the save load?

It would be way better if they would allow queries to external sql databases . Image what could you do then. Just insert the username and the password you selected in a previous game and bam, you get the hero.
